for some reason if i wanted to be doctor, I'd want to be a research doctor
Shouldn't you research that and find out why?
No no I have. I just think about if I want to put myself through so much more schooling.
I have a desire to go back to grad school. MS at the very least. I would prefer a PhD. But even getting a PhD is a walk in the park compared with a PhD MD because of the time involvement. And it isn't just about getting the degree and then life is good. there is still a large ramp up period with getting experience. i'd be interested in clinical monitoring - especially hemodynamics. Being realistic, till I could be a pimp (ie: publish my own papers, defining the direction), it'll be 20 years when its all said and done.
Of course, it is the same period of time if I work in the industry....but I'm not going to be forgoing as much income being a student and then a post doc.
That, and, most doctors I know tell me they'd prefer their kids doing finance or engineering
edit:
did you lock me? Man I was about to have some fun mods are vigilant today
