Hey it's been a while now and I am going in next week for a hearing exam in Costco. I was wondering if you are still enjoying these hearing aids as much as you were before?

Thanks!

my dad seems to really like the KS 10.0 hearing aids, once he got over the initial week-or-two adjustment period of getting used to things being louder and hearing little things again (like turn signals) that he hadn't heard in years.

he started the volume down a little and ramped it up over that time period to get used to it. now it's like a night and day difference when he wears them versus when he doesn't. it made it so he doesn't have to constantly strain to pick up conversations anymore.

he connects them to his iphone with bluetooth and uses that to talk to people and watch quite a bit of youtube directly through the hearing aids. that does make it so they only last about 16-18 hours before they're almost dead and need to be recharged.

it's been over a year and costco still helps maintain them. he had trouble replacing a filter inside of one of them the other day, so just went up to costco and they helped him put new ones in for both.

i think they also have some sort of guarantee for no additional cost where if you break or lose one of them, you can get a one-time replacement. he's forgotten where they were a few times and dropped one in the grass once, but thankfully has always been able to find them.

Thanks for your response!

I am still hoping that @Fritzo will chime in with an update.
I DMed you.

For everyone else, the KS10's have been a godsend. They're fantastic and they've changed my life for the better. They're like having AirPods built in to your head that allow you to hear everything/everyone that you've been missing. I can hear birds again, have conversations in restaurants, hear at the movies (instead of just muffled booms). These devices are literally the same as the $5000 Phonak versions for $1399 (with a slightly larger enclosure because they contain a telecoil. The Phonak version doesn't). They're about the size of a nickel, feel nearly weightless, they connect to your ear canal with a clear wire, and unless you point them out people will most likely not even realize you're wearing them.

One year in and I still can't recommend them enough. I'm happy to answer any questions anyone has because I struggled with hearing loss for a long time and I want people to realize help is available!

Costco will replace the device in each ear once for any reason over 3 years. This warranty is included in the price.

To compare, this same warranty from my audiologist on their products was a $379 add-on.

I'm 49 now, and I've started to wonder about my laptop and YouTube player. It seems like, no matter what my master system volume is set at, I always have to turn it up a bit to watch (and hear) YouTube. I don't know if it's some sort of audio volume-normalization built into YouTube's web player that I have to overcome, or if my hearing is actually going. It could be my hearing.
It's probably your hearing- you're losing your low and high range. It happens naturally as you age, but in some people damage to the ear drum or ear canal can cause it. Sometimes it's even wax buildup. It's cheap and quick to get your hearing checked. They'll make recommendations for your specific issue. We live in an age where most hearing issues are treatable- take advantage!

If the only issue is hearing YT videos it may not be entirely hearing-loss.

Wildly inconsistent volume-levels are common on YT both way too loud and too soft. I have a browser plugin called Youtube Enhancer and pretty much the only feature I used regularly is the volume-boost button.

However if hearing problems extend to all sources of sound it may well be that a profound hearing-loss is the problem... it's nothing to be embarrassed about. (I have a mild hearing-loss myself thanks to many loud concerts)
