So I'm seeing if I can get into a few courses for the fall semester last min.

You may remember I was talking about quiting my job and maybe traveling the world for a few months to a year. My depression is getting to me again Well I've decided against the trip for now. Instead I'm looking to see if my father can pull some strings and get me into a few courses at the college he teaches at. It's too late now to get into most courses the regular way but since he is faculty there and knows many of the instructors he can probably do something. I'm not looking at going back to the university I was at before right away. I dropped out there 5 or 6 times and it feels a little uncomfortable going back. I'm going to take it a bit slow at first and get some credits through a college, in this case my fathers, then later transfer to university to finish
the last portions of the degree. Still looking to transfer out of this job into something else though.

Update:
Well it looks like I'll be able to get into at least 2 courses, probably 3. This will help ease me in. I've also given notice that I will be quiting my current job on August 15th. Manager was actually very nice and said he hopes the next guy they get will be as good as me. Time to start looking for some small part time job that I can do 2-3 days a week. Any ideas?

In this situation would you tell your current employer that you were going to quit soon to go back to school or would you wait till everything was finalized? Either way I'm not staying in this job.

If you're not staying just put in your two weeks when you're ready to leave. give 2 weeks notice, no longer no shorter.

Check out the college food service as well as any restaurants/bars in the immediate area. They tend to be very flexible in scheduling and tend to be fun places to work while you enjoy the coed scenery.

My college opened up enrollment on June 7th and frankly if you started now you'd only get some crappy leftover courses nobody likes or needs.
Kinda shocking considering how hideously over priced it is, yet they somehow manage to stuff the place full every fall.

It's not hard to figure out. Every teacher, parent and, stranger on the street has been preaching college as the ONLY way to get ahead since the day you were born.

Yeah I'm going to see if I can get a job at the college or close by. Thanks. However the college system here is not the same as the college system in the US. When I say college I mean the Canada college system which does not offer degrees so they won't have much of a coed scene. I'm going to be taking 4 to 6 courses here then when I feel better I'll probably be transferring to UBC (full university). I did go to SFU before which was also a full university but I don't want to go back there, too many ghosts/bad memories from the past.

Well that's true. However I'm working towards something like a comp sci or math degree at a university and such degrees will need breadth requirements, basically electives outside of your chosen degree field. I took archaeology to fill 3 of these credits when I was going to SFU. Looks like my father can probably get me into a couple of English courses which will give me transfer credits towards this. Also I will probably sit in on a Calculus course to brush up on my math. With my history of dropping out due to depression etc I want to take this a bit slower. However I think I'm finally more mature about this and I think this time things will go better, even if I have problems. I've worked retail jobs now for about 5 or 6 years and the experience has actually helped me some.

It's not the only way truthfully though. Lots of well paying jobs out there, for example in the trades, that don't require a degree.

Well assloads of those people go to college/uni because it's basically been drilled into their heads from the time they were 3 yrs old that there is NO other alternative. It never even occurs to them that there might be.

Don't stress yourself out about social situations or the work load of college. Everyone feels like shit at some point in their college career and not everyone goes to college to get laid. Find something your interested in and stick with it and you will do fine. Good luck man!

Thanks! My issues with stress were more from medically diagnosed depression and anxiety though (runs in the family).

It's not the ONLY way but you damn well better be prepared to work your ass off if you're looking to get ahead without it.

Out of curiosity, how old are you? I've been thinking about going back myself but everyone tells me that a graduate in his/her early 30's will never get hired. I'm not sure whether to shut them out and just go for it.
