I haven't seen any games using it lately. Is it dead now? Kind of a shame.

I don't think there's been any significant Kinect games in about 2 years.

It has been dead for a while. D4 was probably the last title of note to release with Kinect integration, and it didn't do well. They took out UI nav via Kinect with the 2015 dash update. They're dumping Xbox Fitness (basically the last thing using the Kinect for actual interaction) at year's end for free content, and mid-2017 for paid stuff. They wrecked voice commands by turning "Xbox" to "Hey, Cortana." Now, instead of "Xbox On," you get the pleasure of "Hey, Cortana, Xbox On," while agreeing to let MS data mine everything you say to the console (as such, I have stopped using my Kienct for voice).

Yup, not enough people wanted Kinect for the extra price it cost to get. I'm sure it was just too expensive for Microsoft to eat the cost on every Xbox sold. And as we see, you don't need Kinect for the voice commands and not everyone has the perfect room for Kinect to read correctly.

Thats a shame. I thought Kinect had some potential but I was getting the feeling that I was in the minority. I think I was one of the few that actually used Xbox Fitness. Recently picked up Kung Fu Kinect for my Son and I to play. We enjoy it.

I would much prefer him to use Kinect than just sit on the sofa playing if he is stuck inside on a rainy day.

The difference between Nintendo and Microsoft is one can tell when they misjudged the market, while the other does not.

You don't need to say anything regarding Cortana. Every voice command still works.

I have the kinect but never use it. I've never seen the point of playing video games using a motion system. I prefer to relax while gaming.

Unfortunately, the best feature of the Kinect wasn't the motion stuff. It was the advent voice controls in games and software and it was done pretty good in a lot of cases. EA really hit the ball out of the park with FIFA and Madden using them. Being able to call audibles without touching the controller at the line of scrimmage or make substitutions without enter the menu during the flow of play in a soccer game was extremely good. Having silly features like the referee hearing your use expletives when you do bad and it having an impact is also nice (especially with the availability to turn it off). Surfing channels using simply a voice command and controlling the TV volume was also very good.

It didn't catch on (or, require something as expensive and powerful as the Kinect), which is a bit of shame.

I like the Kinect for the simple fact it sees me and logs me in. Works well with 3 people who use the same machine in the house. Yes, I'm lazy.

Playstation move and camera died along with it as well.

It is also for these reasons I think VR is a fad (like 3D TV), and will be dead soon too.

If it wasn't obvious already that Kinect was dead, maybe the fact that they didn't even include the port on the new XBOX One S will tip you off.
