Unless the perception of investors is that there is too much supply...in a recessed economy...and a production cut proves them correct.

The problem is that reducing energy supply in a recessed economy is only going to push the economy further downward, reducing demand even more.

What they really need to do is suck it up and raise output to flood economies with cheap energy. That will help pull everyone out of this faster. Then they can throttle back production to get prices up when economies are actually demanding it.

reportedly, they were over-producing by 2M barrels/day. so at 1.5M, we still have a surplus of .5M.

exactly. 401K people who have 5, 10, 20, 30+ years until retirement shouldn't even think about getting out. But folks don't think rationally. Our company is experiencing a huge drop in 401K participation. Why they hell would you get out of a dollar-cost averaging investment when you still have years to go before retiring? silly.

Also, we're experiencing large drops in the company's employee stock purchase program. Another illogical move by people. You get a guaranteed 15% return at the purchase date. Plus, our company's stock price has not taken any hits like many other companies. But even if it had, why would you take yourself out of a 15% gain?

It's mindboggling.

Seriously. Buffet and all the other legendary investors are buying.

Even if it goes down a little more (b/c it's impossible to time the TRUE bottom), investing in solid, fundamentally sound companies..... in 10 years you'll be bragging how besides the real estate boom you made a killing in equities.
