When this whole election process started, the press was bashed because they were giving Trump too much free publicity as they reporting on every word that he said and ran with those stories over democratic party and/or other republicans. In essence, the press was blamed for getting Trump the nomination.

Now the press is being bashed as bias because they are reporting every word that Trump has said (past and present) and being accused or running a smear campaign against him and (prematurely) being blamed for Trump losing the election.

I have no idea where you came up with that drivel. Obviously the press did play a role in Trump getting the nomination - he used the free publicity. That doesn't mean the press hasn't (and isn't continuing to) run a massive smear campaign against Trump. Of course they are, it's what they do, the bees have to protect the queen

Media is hugely biased against Trump now, which is kind of funny. On Face the Nation, it's so obvious that it's a pro Hillary show, it's laughable. I'm not even for Trump at all, but it's so glaringly obvious they should be kind of ashamed. For example:

Reporter asks Pence question... Pence then goes into anti Clinton tirade, reporter instantly talks over him, says to stay on topic.. Grills him over and over about Trump. Next, Kaine goes on.. Starts bashing Trump all over the place for minutes without being cut off at all. We all know Trump is a piece of crap, but bias should be left to editorial columns, and not objective journalism.

There pretty much aren't any main stream media outlets in the US that are inherently unbiased. Even Reddit which used to be very good sources for unbiased news has turned into a royal clusterfvck.

The audacity that the press should report what a candidate actually states and then to question said statements cannot be allowed to stand.

I like how the conservative myth of media bias is so strong that they have somehow been able to convince themselves that 'repeating what Trump says verbatim' is a 'massive smear campaign' against him.

lol. The bubble is amazing to see sometimes.

You can use quotes from anyone completely out of context, and you can frame the discussion around those quotes in whatever way you want to direct them. Trump has said many stupid things, so there's plenty of ammo to work with. I've never been a Trump supporter (I've said he's basically an ego-maniac jackass since before the primaries), but it's painfully obvious that the lefty media is delighted to smear him in whatever way they can. He makes it worse by giving them so much ammo (currently and in the past).

How some people view the Press and how they should operate.....

Reporter:Mr Hitler, what are your Policy proposals
Hitler: We should start a massive war of conquest and Gas the Jews along with other undesirables!
Reporter: Very interesting, thank you for your time...this is Dietrich reporting, back to you Fredrich
Anchor: Thank you Dietrich..coming up after the Break, a Cat up a tree, but what the rescuers discover is amazing.....

By all means provide us with a list of quotations by Trump that you believe the media has taken out of context as part of a 'massive smear campaign'.

That's why I certainly on seeing posts in the media about this leak email going to sink Hillary. Only once I read it it's just what happens all the time in politics and even business.

This stuff is amazing to hear. The right literally has a network (Fox) devoted to trashing Democrats day in and day out, while listening to talk on the Radio, most talk is Right Wing propaganda which day in and day out trashes Semocrats, the major news aggregation site Drudge is devoted to bashing Democrats day in and day out, Trumps son in law owns a newspaper, his campaign CEO runs an online publication, and he has the ex CEO of Fox News on his campaign. And somehow, Hilary has the MSM in her pocket?

Honestly, without the echo chamber of the right wing media in, dispensing their right wing paranoia and conspiracies, this election wouldn't even be close. The fact that a man who joked about sexually assaulting and from the stories we hear has assaulted women is even this close to being president is telling in itself.

So you just named some specific parts of the media. The remaining 90% are completely in her pocket and will do anything to support her.

Also, lest you forget, even Fox is not a Trump supporting organization, there's been a big feud between Trump and fox as well.

No need to rehash this song and dance. You choose to believe that all these people who are all registered democrats who donate to her campaign and get their talking points from her cronies and such are all completely objective in their coverage. Yup. Really. Those email leaks showing her campaign literally telling the media how to cover stories and what questions to ask etc? Nope, all just part of the vast right wing conspiracy. Yep. Really.

Bottom line, they've taken every opportunity to bash him, and he's made their job easy to do with all the stupid things he's said and done.

The republicans on cable news and half of fox news are all bashing him. They are are controlled by Soros and the lizard people.

You said they are engaging in not just a smear campaign but a MASSIVE smear campaign and you somehow can't come up with a single example of these supposed smears.

Again, it looks like you've confused 'news coverage that makes someone look bad' with 'massive smear campaign'. Let me break some news to you: it's not a smear campaign if it's true.

We're so damned close to having state run media that it should scare people. But unfortunately, few younger people are able to even comprehend that something is wrong.

Says the moron who supports the candidate who wants to strengthen libel laws to make it easier to go after journalist. Says the guy who supports the candidate who actually has two media guys (Ailes and bannon) helping him run his campaign. Says the guy who posts info from a Russian propaganda news network. Says the guy that supports propaganda news from a discredited hack named O'Keefe.

Sure bubble dweller.

What's the best way to figure out if boomerang thinks someone is a good journalist? If that person is telling him what he wants to hear.

What is scarier: libel laws that make it easier to intimidate journalists because of the threat of going after them in court, or having the media be essentially a propaganda arm for one party? Either way you end up with a media that is not doing their jobs -- just worthless propaganda outlets, predictably attacking the other side. It's what we have now.

Total Hillary supporter here and I think the current situation of having blatantly biased news sources is alarming. MSNBC for the libs, FOX for the right, Brietbart for the crazies. News w/o opinion is bad for ratings, but most people who don't know better watch/read these channels think that the opinion pieces are part of the news and definitely skews their way of thinking.
