So let me guess -- Vaping is almost as bad as smoking cigarettes.....

I only read the first article. They didn't mention anything about nanoparticles of metal from the heating element getting into the vapor.

I tried vaping with both vegetable glycerine and polypropylene. Both irritated the hell out of my lungs even more than smoking did. But most people don't seem to have that problem.

If vaping can help you stop smoking, that's great. But I don't know how useful it is for that purpose. The spike of nicotine that you get from either smoking or vaping I believe is one of the reasons it's so hard to quit. As the nicotine is metabolized, you start to go into w/drawal and that prompts you to smoke or vape again.

Using patches, lozenges or gum is a much better way to quit since you don't get those spikes. You get constant, low level of nicotine that makes it a lot easier to ween yourself off of it.

Seems to be good for adults who have been smoking for a long time as it at least reduces the amount of toxins inhaled. Unfortunately there is a huge update in the number of kids doing it. It's starting to become more of a problem at my wife's school than smoking ever was

Vaping is unhealthy.
There is not evidence to support the statement "almost" as bad as tobacco.

Claiming that vaping is "almost" as bad as cigarettes is like saying: I am "almost" as tall as the statue of liberty.
It's true, I am taller than most people , but, the statue of liberty is still a LOT LOT LOT taller than me.

A very significant portion of smokers die early due to their cigarettes.
One study WaPo wrote about, suggested as high as 2/3 of smokers get an early death from their cigarettes.

Vaping is unhealthy, but, it's not the statue of liberty of unhealth. It isn't killing poor huddled masses yearning to be free.

Stopped smoking completely four years ago due to vaping. I had one cigarette three years ago that made me instantly feel like complete crap so no problem with me wanting to go back there now. One thing that gets overlooked is that you can control the amount of nicotine without changing any other factors in vaping. I have gone from normal smoking levels of nicotine to about 10% of that in the last 4 years and the next step is to cut it out completely leaving just the habit. Hopefully I can stop vaping completely sometime in the next year.

I do agree though about the rising problem of kids doing it, but as long as you can buy off the shelf parts and build your own device and juice I see no way to stop it completely. If I was in school today I would probably make some side money by building "handheld fog machines" and selling them to the other kids.

I prefer to believe vaping is terrible health-wise, because reasons. And won't someone think of the children! We need to ban something, or multiple things even, to protect our children!

To be srs, I happen to think pretty well of it. It got me to stop smoking after 10 years, when cold turkey failed. I've also used a patch and had gum before and thought both were pretty lacking. So I don't think I would've been very successful with those, though it's possible.

I quit smoking using patches, gum, and vaping. The trifecta to defeat cigarettes.
I had a cigar memorial day and one on labor day, but, otherwise, no tobacco products or nicotine products at all.

"Almost as bad"? No, that seems unlikely.
It is absolutely an effective cessation device, based on personal anecdotal experience of myself and friends, I'm something like two years without a cigarette, and cut out the nicotine entirely as of earlier this year, and now I'm working on halting vaping entirely.

I've actually bought maybe three packs of cigs since I quit, just cause I was kinda wanting to smoke an actual cig. I might've threw half a pack away but otherwise smoked all of them, usually over a several week period. Had no desire to go back to smoking though. After you've quit for a while, cigs smell like a man's dingleberry encrused pooper. But they can be enjoyable to smoke.

I wasn't even intending to really quit, just vaping part time when it was more convenient than smoking, and over time cigarettes started to taste worse and worse.
