My wife works in a cardiac ICU as a pharmacist. She gets people from Eastern Kentucky/West Virgina daily that are sent home on Meds covered under Obama care. She just shakes her head knowing that the same people using it are the very ones voting to tear it down and gain less access to care. My household is all the way on that right side of the chart as well and we'll benefit as much as anyone under his plan. $1500 a year back into my pocket won't make up for the social liberties erosion, environmental protection and anti-science mentality we'll give up for it.

And that's the saddest thing of all really. All these people who are in bad times being told other people get free shit but not them when the reality is far from the truth.

$1T deficit. Republicans are scorched earth Keynesians, they know it works, but refuse to do it when a Democrat is in charge. But when they are in charge, they like to play Santa Claus.
Also, because they are planning to borrow a lot of money, interest rates are rising, so we are going to have several hundred billion more in payments for the debt, even before the tax cuts.

My wife is a physician and feels the same way. We will end up saving some money with the taxes but we will see at what cost.

So what's keeping you from upping your charitable contributions to help them?

P.S. The Childs Play thing doesn't count.

GOP will "repeal" Obamacare, and "replace" it with essentially same thing but with more sweeteners. Maybe do a few things like changing unpopular individual mandate penalty stick with a tax credit carrot. Expand Medicaid to their states finally and pretend like it was all Trump's idea. No way they go into 2018 and 2020 (+redistricting) having thrown 20+ Million people off insurance, including many of their supporters. That would be a huge self inflicted wound, and would pave the way for Democrats to come back with a vengeance and do universal single payer.

The Government has tried helping them with Obamacare but they don't want it. They want orange unicorns instead.

The main thing that will happen? Not a whole lot. He will repeal Obamacare and guess what? Costs will keep going up. It's the pharma and medical companies that are making it supremely expensive and no matter what healthcare we have it will keep going up. People blame Obamacare, but it really is pharma that is driving up the cost across this country.

I personally take a medication that costs $7000 a month. It cost $4000 just 3 years ago. I have one other GENERIC that costs $4K for a 90 day supply. Other countries? $200 Literally, it could be bought in Canda for a price of $209. Sorry, the free market is back firing because the corporations are finding ways to manipulate the system and collude to raise their prices in line /w each other. And then to top that off, some companies are then PAYING the generic drug manufacturers to NOT make the medication in generic form so they can keep the prices sky high. I think that call it pay for delay or something.Until we take on these companies head on, this will keep happening.

OK sorry I got side tracked a bit... but I'd bet with complete confidence that when Obamacare is repealed that healthcare costs just keep going up. Maybe eventually it will be realized what the root causes are.

The issue isn't just that health care costs will continue rising, that was a given either way. The issue is that not only will costs go up but so will the number of people without coverage. Insurance companies will be able to go back to denying people with existing conditions as well. The good news is that people will soon be able to start paying for a crappy plan with little to no coverage but it will be cheap!

In my wife's case it's 5-10 additional "free" hours a week doing discharge orders and working with care planners and drug reps to get people on free/reduced rate scripts if they have no coverage. Time is money and she's $65 an hour. She saves 10's of thousands a dollars in copays a month through those efforts.

As far as I go. I pay my taxes that help subsidize it and would fully support a universal pay system even if it cost me 5-10% more in taxes a year.

Exactly and this is what all these Trump diehards don't seem to understand. The republican party is not out for the little guy yet they can't seem to wrap their minds around it. I am fine with the government taxing the shit out of me if everyone in the country gets healthcare through a single payer system.

I just had this argument last night! I'm FINE with paying more/being taxed so that every one of my fellow american's get healthcare. You know what? It happens RIGHT NOW. I get taxed so that every American has police and fire coverage and public education. Healthcare should be no different than these things.

You guys need to go talk to some German citizens. Yes, they pay 15-20% higher taxes, a monthly health insurance fee based on their income, and pay copays on prescriptions. They laugh every time they hear someone claim they get free healthcare.

I'd never call it "free healthcare"
I don't call my police department "Free Police Coverage"

What's ironic is do you know how much money companies would save if there was a single payer system? Shit, 1/4 of my "benefits at work is what my company pays towards my healthcare every month. In an ideal world, if they didn't pay that directly, some (in a perfect world) of that should funnel back to me with a higher salary/hourly wage thus negating the higher taxes to subsidize a single payer system.

Why? I don't think a single Trump supporter has chimed in.

Good for you bro except millions of people in the US wish they had that and will never get it with the current system.
