Yea, but isn't the point that with Lifelock, you are insured against ID theft? Not that they stop it, but that if it does happen, you are insured against all expenses resulting from the theft? In which case, he should be ok right?

The suit also maintains that Maynard stole his father?s identity by using his information to get an American Express card, which he used to rack up more than $100,000 of debt.?In Wisconsin, a woman?s debit card was stolen, and that thief used that card to sign up for LifeLock,? he said. ?If you can?t provide the basic information to verify someone for subscription purposes, how can you be relied upon to protect people?s identities?

According to the lawsuits, the million-dollar guarantee is largely bunk. From one of the attorneys filing suit:

"In actuality, once you get beyond the numerous legal limitations and disclaimers, the policy really only guarantees that LifeLock will investigate how to fix its failure," Grubb said in a news release. "The subscriber receives no monetary recompense and no guarantee that their reputation and credit status will be restored."

So it sounds like the only thing LifeLock does is place a 'fraud alert' on their clients' credit reports. Kudos to LifeLock's CEO for capitalizing on people's fears and getting a million clients to pay $10/month for something that they could have done themselves for free.

Oh, and how's this for irony:

Nobody has technically "Stolen" his ID. Hes right in saying that there is nothing negative on his credit score. Thats what this company does? It protects your credit score, thats it.

The only time his ID got stolen was because the company giving out the loan didnt even do a background check on his SS #. If they aren't doing background checks, then any SS # could of worked.

EDIT: That being said, I am glad they didnt hire me! It would be a permanent headache working at this place

Lifelock does nothing for anyone that they couldn't do for themselves for free. That's the real problem with it, they don't actually provide any real service. They're like paying someone else a monthly fee for putting your phone number on the Do Not Call list.

I have no problem with what lifelock does. if people don't want to take the time to research it before doing it then they deserve what they get.

I don't have a problem with that either, except that they seem to be misleading people that they are providing a superior service compared to what they get on their own.
