Your op sounds like a script from a documentary about how one can justify their own substance abuse, while putting down someone who in this case is emasculated because of their own hypocrisy.

Sad, that you can't see he really only has your best interest at heart, and that as long as either one of you are messed up on something, you'll never really connect.

I lived with my Dad because I was going to community college to save money. My Dad didnt have the money to send me to a four year school right out of college and I didnt want him to feel like he somehow had to make that happen. I smoked weed for recreation almost every day, a couple times a day while holding a steady job and pulling a 3.7 GPA.

IMO, a drug like weed is harmless so long as it doesnt take over your life. If you can handle it without it affecting your job or school, then I say burn till your heart's content. In this respect it is no worse than alcohol.

Perhaps your parents experience with weed is like mine. (I've never done it myself, the "system" managed to scare me enough...lol, but have witnessed it in several others)

Everyone I know that was smoking weed, ended up doing harder drugs... coke, crack, etc.... even though they all started out "It's just weed".

So, at the moment it's just weed, but will it stay that way?

That's probably where he got it all actually. I never did AA, but i did NA (Narcotics Anonymous obviously), and it was an exact clone of AA, with a lot sponsors that did AA as well. And a lot of it is to scare the person. To show not only how bad it must have been for them to seek out AA, but how much worst it could be if they continued down the road. Not everybody falls for it. I remember some of the films we watched, actually made people jones for stuff more than scare them.

So your dad has no experience with weed, but has been scared the sh1t out of him with all the absolute worst things it can do to people (people go into treatment for a reason).

Listen kid. Pot is bad. It funds terrorism, murder, rape, gangs and general immorality. This one guy I know who smoked weed, stabbed his mother to death the very same day. Yep. I mean do you want that sh!t happening to you? I didn't think so. Just read all the horror stories about people that do weed. They were perfectly smart motivated people before they started doing pot. Then the became lazy no good stoners who do all sorts of immoral and illegal deeds.

Oh and once you start doing pot, it's right off to heroin with ya. Then smack, PCP, meth and sooner or later you will be doing all sorts of jobs in an alley just to get your next fix. I'm surprised you're not at this stage yet. Unless you quit, I give you a few more months.
