4 years ago right before I started college. It was a brand new mountain bike from a neighborhood bike shop.

ummm....Are you sure that thing has not been on clearance for like......10 years? Which Trek is it? 4 years ago, $300 bought you an entry level Trek bike that had some cheap US parts, but the frame was till made in Taiwan.

Seven has some bikes of ours on their way, if not there already.

I think... We have shipped things to Seven Cycles, but im not sure exctly what it is... or where it was.

Seven actually builds their own frames....so if you are sending stuff to them, it possibly to see what you guys are building and to see if you are a threat. Not saying that the would not change their business plan to include you guys, but as of now, they build their own frames (and cost much more)

That said....people....

These bikes are cruiser bikes. Component wise, they are standard. Frame wise....it's just a steel frame as opposed to an aluminum alloy. This can be bad or good depending on how you look at it (see Jamis Coda). For this application (just cruising the city), it does not matter unless you do not want a heavy bike.

1-8spd? Like I said, it's cruiser bike. Also, more speed does not mean it's better. In fact, most people who get 24 speed bikes do not even use half of them. Also, lots of high end road bike are 16 speed, not 24 or 28.

Price wise....well, for what it is, it is expensive. But you are buying a niche bike, which to some people means alot.. I mean, it's not so overpriced, but it does cost more. Could you get more for less, probably. These, bikes, however, are not marketed to bike enthusiasts.

I believe they purchased them to sell, not tear apart... connections, remember that word

well...no....that is not how they operate.....you can buy directly from them, but most people just go to Landry's or something and buy it through them. You can't just gom buy it, and pick it up. You have to be fitted for it.

Every time I have seen this thread over the last month I keep reading the title as "pubicbikes" and am sorely disappointed D:

I think he's suggesting that Seven bought some public bikes for them to sell right? As you stated that makes no sense whatsoever.

As far as his "connections" comment, I assume that he is implying that the founders/operators of Public have lots of industry connections and this is their "secret weapon" he has been more or less implying since day 1? I dunno. Yet again this seems like nothing new or innovative in any department to me. Niche bikes have been around forever and for every 1 that (relatively) makes it, 100 fail.

I also dont get what the pic of the girl has to do with it, but I thank him for it.
Then again, it seems like a weasely way to just bump the thread and draw more eyeballs to it. This thread has turned into nothing but an attempted shill for the company it seems?

I've seen some expensive bikes that looked really cool...unfortunately the bikes on this site aren't them. Maybe I'm missing something?

Just depends on what you think is "cool"
Personally I really do like these bikes.

?? Where have you been? 2x10 is pretty much the standard now on bikes $1k+, with 2x11 not uncommon at higher prices.

Amazing what you can get some people to say if you pay them enough, isn't it?

Oh I'm quite aware of whats out there. My best friend's family has owned and operated a large, local bike store for nearly 60 years now. I'm in there nearly once every week or so just to hangout and shoot the shit.
I never said the Public Bikes are something revolutionary or anything.

I still feel this thread has turned into nothing but a sales pitch.

Well, that's all it was from the start, wasn't it? The so-called "internship" is probably nothing more than a partner shilling his goods.....at least from the tone of the posts the OP has posted.

Actually good point. I re-read the original OP, and yeah, it was a sales-pitch from the get go. And here I am bumping this thread over and over.

You're not the only one. I honestly feel this entire thread should be just deleted as being nothing more than a sales thread....which is prohibited by AT.

So wait, what part of my whole thing don't you get?

Let's see
I am in school in OHIO
I am currently in San Francisco, working at an internship, for Public Bikes
I posted about it
people asked questions
i sorta answered
i posted some information that was asked about
you over there keep going off about "pay someone" no, there was no money exchanged for what was said.
and meghan, this sounds like you are just on here to thread crap, or sell YOUR wares... let me enjoy my damn experience... you want pics of people on our bikes, riding our bikes, our bikes out in the environment, go to facebook, look us up... you seem smart enough to do that. I am just posting about my experience, and what i know i can talk about... things in the public domain are discussable, things in private domain (which is a LOT of the information some people wanted to start with, and still are wondering) can not and will not be discussed...

Oh, and are you waiting for us to show up in Vanity Fair or something cliche like that?
oh wait, we did...

That's what I was thinking.

Doesn't seem to be about the internship so much.
