if according to perknose's posts about 2600 US soldiers have died in iraq, and we assume that they have killed or detained about 4x as many insurgents, how come the insurgents are still as strong as ever? i mean there arent an unlimited supply of suicidals are there? something doesnt add up. the US keep saying they are making progress, but the violence hasnt gone down which suggests they dont know what they are talking about, or are bullshitting, or they are not in control of the situation, which means 3 years of strategy failures.... eitherway they are bogged down and dumsfeld is out of if depth IMO

Iraq is one of the worst things ever done by the US Govt and the people of the US.

It is just too sad that we don't have the balls to send the neocons to the hague like we are trying to do to Saddam

Honestly, I've gone on at extreme length about this topic in other posts, but considering what little this one is starting with, that's all I'm really willing to contribute here.

The U.S has made progress ..

they trained and armed 360,000 Iraqi soldiers and gave them humvees and uniforms that look identical to the ones the U.S troops use.

Now instead of U.S soldiers being targets 100% of the time, the majority of roadside bombs and shootings are targeted at Iraqi troops.

That is, Aimster, an unavoidable part of the process no matter when it happens and who steps in to usher it along. We have people complaining that the Iraqis don't fight for the cause of democracy/freedom/etc. because they don't really want it. Now that the role of frontline security is shifting and they are fighting those battles, that's no good either? That's rather silly to me.
