I've probably been to subway for lunch at least every other day for the past few months..
usually get a 6 inch combo, either tuna or the subway club, water or coke, and 2 sugar cookies or a bag of baked lays.

I go to subway cause its cheap (5 bucks), because both the tuna and club have a lot of protien for my work out, and because its not gross mcdonalds that makes me feel like crap 10 minutes after i eat it.

However.. a 6 inch tuna from subway has 530 calories, 31 g of fat (7 saturated), and 1000 mg of sodium. A bag of lays adds im guessin 150 calories. If i get 2 sugar cookies instead its like 400 more calories and 24 more grams of fat.

If I go to mcdonalds and get a quarter pounder and medium fries, its ~900 calories, 40 grams of fat and 1200mg sodium.

That just doesnt sound a whole lot worse then the tuna from subway, but is there more to it then just nutrition facts? Is a processed burger with similar nutrition the same as a fresh cold cut or tuna sandwich or is it still worse?

Also, I just checked the subway club.. 300 cals, 6 grams of fat.. looks like I should stick to that if I'm worried about it.

Thats why I just get a sub, usually a turkey or turkey and ham, with all the veggies(sans black olives and cucumbers) with no cheese, and spicy mustard as sauce.

Those stupid Jarod commercials just make me turn the channel. I don't think anyone cares any more. It was sort of neat to hear his story when it first came out... But t got old real quick.

And just like any restaurant, you can eat healthy or bad all depending on the menu items you choose.

Tuna is by far the least healthy thing you can get on there. Duh?

60+ grams of fat for a foot long? Go for a chicken, turkey, roast beef or whatever that'll have 6 grams of fat on a 6 incher..and stay away from oil, mayo, and cheese maybe.

How much more healthier does the sandwich become once you take it off of the paper?

hmm how do you make tuna?
oh yeah put in a SHITLOAD of mayo. sheesh.

anyway if you get a sandwich (say turkey or chicken) with no sauce it is pretty healthy. but not very good.

how is the tuna sandwich anyway? never had it. i usually get the BMT or such.

Oil, cheese and mayo are pure fat.

Most people just don't understand what makes up their food.

You can eat very healthy at ANY fast food restaurant. (Although somewhere like Rally's is pretty tough)

The tuna is good, just a bit mayo'ey now that everyone mentions it.

I like my sandwhiches dryish so when I get the club or ham and turkey, I just get lettuce and hot peppers. I hate sauces and crap everyone else seems to love.. like blue cheese, sour cream, oil, cheese sauces..

Luckily so far I am physically unable to gain weight so I'll just enjoy it while it lasts. I'm sure in 5 years i'll be able to see the cookies taking residence on my gut as I eat them.. I dread that day..

I think more or less the point of those green things they offer is to help you fill up more, and instead of having to buy another sandwich you can get lettuce, onions, green peppers and be full with that instead of 3 double cheeseburgers.

Maybe don't have the cookies and chips....?
Subways is also very customisable. Is it JUST the bread and tuna that have that many calories/salt/fats?

I've been getting the Subway Club (320), no cheese, Honey Mustard (30), a bag of Baked Lays (~150), and a diet lemonade (5 according to the sign on the machine)

So I'm getting a meal for about 505 Calories & 9 grams of fat. Which I didn't think was too bad.

Get a footlong turkey sub on whole grain wheat with lots of veggies and light mayo or mustard, no sugar cookies, no chips, and only diet pop or water.

That's much healthier because of the lack of sugar and more fiber.

Even the meatballs?

Meatballs is one of the worst. So is chicken bacon ranch.

I think he was referring to the BMT, not what he got.
