Just when you thought it couldn't get worse than geezer rock ... it does. A lot worse.

even back in '87 Axl was full of himself and paranoid of the press, this should be entertaining from a trainwreck perspective

/what's the over under on how many times the show starts within 15 min of start time?

I'm thinking he will have his shit together this time, TBH. He looks like he actually gives a fuck, plus Slash is in. I don't think Slash would be in if Axl was going to do this in dickwad mode.

Shame they couldn't get Izzy Stradlin back in the group. Those must have been some napalm'd bridges.

Mildly surprised that Adler didn't join the tour but perhaps they don't trust that he's sober.

What's even more odd is the whole AC/DC thing and supposedly Axl is filling in for Brian. WUT.

Surprised Slash is even involved in the thing, if it is real. I was going to have the wife talk to her nephew who is pretty close with him. Didn't bother.

I never cared for Axl to begin with really, I used to work with a guy that was a huge GNR fan. I told him tell me he's basically like a male Ethel Merman singing.

He came back a few days later and said "You're Right"

I guess I ruined it for him a little.

Its real. They did a show/are doing a small show tonight, then have their April 8th and 9th shows in Las Vegas, then their two day stint at Coachella. Both of their Vegas shows sold out in minutes. The rest of the tour dates were pending until today because they had to work out financial details. GnR is getting an estimated $3million+ per show. Plenty of incentive for Slash, Axl, and Duffy to get along. It'll be their biggest paydays in decades.

i know, right? him being so busy with the massive success of velvet revolver and slash's snake pit ..

He's constantly busy, but of course he would make more cash there.

I imagine people would go to watch the mess.

How is his voice these days? I've never seen GnR live but saw Megadeth live once and Dave's voice was so terrible I was shocked. He was struggling to sing.

Is it the same for Axl Rose?

I skipped from beginning to middle to end of this, but I wouldn't draw the same conclusion as you have. However, I think he's trying to do exactly the same thing with his voice as he was in his youth, and as singers get older it's just not possible for most of them; if they want to sing the same songs then they need to alter how they're singing it to suit their current vocal range. A lot of the time AFAIK it involves altering the key of the vocals (disclaimer: not my profession, just repeating what I remember hearing other accomplished, ageing singers say on this topic).

Listening to his voice makes me wonder whether he's constantly trying to re-live old glories rather than finding a place for himself in the current world.

people are not as demanding as you imagine them to be.

I'm well aware of that, if a branded name is involved.

It doesn't take much then, just production and churning out pablum, like many movies these days.
