Knicks’ Jeremy Lin added to roster of players for Rising Stars Challenge in All-Star weekend

Jeremy Lin will play in the Rising Stars Challenge after all.

The Knicks point guard was added Thursday to the roster of players for the Feb. 24 game, just before Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley began drafting for their teams.

Lin’s breakout came after the pool of 18 players was selected, and the NBA was pressured to add him after he scored 136 points in his first five starts, most by an NBA player since the merger with the ABA in 1976-77.

O’Neal took Lin with his third pick after starting with the Clippers’ Blake Griffin. Barkley took Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving at No. 2.

Miami’s Norris Cole also was added to make 20 eligible players.

Go back and check out Melo with Cuse, the Nuggets when they went to the WCF, or the Olympic Team. All those teams featured great guard play and Melo was a standout on those teams. I'm not sure what you expect him to do on a team stacked with 3 bigs and no backcourt to speak of.

He was better than I've ever seen him on the olympic team...their energizer, taking a leadership role on defense, while going with the flo on offense. But he's a bit like Kobe in the nba...someone who's able to make any shot they take if they're in rhythm, so they tend to take any shot instead of moving the ball for a better one. From what I've heard from him tho, I'm fairly certain he will respect the teams current strengths tho, which is pg leadership and team play. No question he wants to go deep in the playoffs.

I am not too concerned about the turnovers right now (against Miami Heat it would be a different issue).

Some of it seems to be still learning his teammates, and some forcing the issue. Plus STAT looks like he is getting back in rhythm.

Lin's turnovers aren't really leading to quick fast breaks for other team. Iman Shumpert's long jumper led to long rebound which Hornets took and pushed in transition. That would be more concerning to me as turnover for Lin.
