Those turnovers are why the Knicks are losing, against the 2nd worst team in the league. Well, those and the threes by the Hornets.

This was to be the easiest win of the Knicks winning run, but not so much.

26 points, 5 assists, 4 steals, 9 turnovers though..

I think only 1 turnover in the 2nd half.. Lin turns the ball over in bunches

Linsanity is no more!

He got way way too many turnovers, which I think led to double digit points for the Hornets.

Ironically, he got the most points (tied with Stoudemire) at 26.

Shump only had 3 official turnovers, but I think almost all of them led to very easy transition baskets or at least good looks in transition. Plus his long jumper miss with long rebound also led to transition.

Obviously Lin's turnovers need to come down (but again, I think most, if not all of Lin's turnovers were essentially equivalent to missed shots where New Orleans couldn't push in transition), but give New Orleans credit - they shot really well, and Knicks missed lots of open shots:
Fields 1 for 8
Novak 2 for 9
Walker 1 for 6
Shump 3 for 9

I also like that despite a shaky free throw recently, Lin hit 4/4 when Knicks were making final push (plus if he made that late 3, game would have at least been tied at that point)

As bad as Lin's turnovers were tonite, I think the worst point guard play tonite was this one.

Ouch.

That one actually made me lol.

Oh well, the streak had to end. I'm just disappointed it ended so badly with a bazillion turnovers. I was hoping for just a mediocre game from Lin when the streak ended, not one so heavily burdened by TOs. I wonder what Shaq thinks now with his #3 pick.

BTW, I think I read somewhere that turnovers were his Achilles' heel in parts of his previous years as well. He may almost be a "rookie" in the NBA, but I fear that turnovers are going to be a fact of life with him for the near to mid-term.

That said, he only had one TO in the second half. I guess he didn't want to hit the notorious double-double with double-digit turnovers. I suppose if they can train him to stop throwing those wild balls when he gets in trouble he can knock a few of those TOs off his game totals.

BTW, Amare Stoudemire looked pretty solid. He has a certain maturity and confidence about him in the way he plays.

What does everyone expect? The knicks to keep winning forever and never lose again? granted the turnovers were unacceptable, but he calmed it down in the second half.

He should've had couple more turnovers. He got lucky and got benefit of calls from the refs. Stern must sent out the memo.

It seems streaks like this often end unexpectedly against a weaker team. NO got up for it, the knicks didn't. They should take consolation they got within two points late but shots wouldn't fall and defense was shoddy. They played Lin very well in the parts of the game I saw, and at the end some of his drives didn't fall. They forced him left and made them more difficult for Lin. Good effort by NO.

No, I didn't expect the streak to go on forever, but I figured it might last just one more game, against the 2nd worst team in the league.

Furthermore, his 45 turnovers in his first 7 starts is all-time NBA record since they started keeping records. Also, he had almost twice as many turnovers in this last game as his number of assists, which means in terms of points it's likely that his turnovers actually were worth as many or perhaps even more negative points as as his assists provided positive points for the team.

In college ball he had tons of turnovers then too. It's clear he's improved on a lot of things, but his turnovers seem to have gotten even worse. Sure, now it's against the NBA, but it nonetheless is very concerning.

He did tone it down in the second half, but still, his 9 tonite is still worse than all of his prior games, including the one against Minnesota where people were attributing it to tiredness.

I was hoping that in their first loss with Lin, it would be against a good team, and it wouldn't be because of Lin's worst attribute. However, it was against a generally bad team (although they shot well tonite), probably mainly because of Lin's worst attribute - his turnovers.

all good points. still don't think its time to panic yet. This guy is good, and will learn just as he has with everything else. quite frankly their free throw shooting really fucked them.

Yeah lol I would have bet the house that "beloved patriot In The Armor" would be found somewhere on the web after the Knicks finally lost a game.

New Orleans shot 7 - 12 (58.3%) from 3.

New York Knicks shot 4 - 24 (16.7%) from 3. If Novak had just made one of those wide open looks in fourth quarter, game would have been tied, New Orleans may have tightened up, and New York able to steal game at end (?) Lin also had a three to tie game (MSG feed showed quick shot of Carmelo and Barron jumping to their feet as he released shot), but I think New Orleans player was charging at Lin to contest shot and his shot went long and bounced off rim.

Plus, they were probably very lackadaisical at beginning of game, already visualizing how all starters would sit out fourth quarter while they emptied bench (Sacramento win was probably too easy in retrospect).

Poor transition pass to Amar’e
Lost control of the ball driving into the paint
Lost control of the ball driving into the paint
Steal the ball but loses it immediately
Ill-advised jump pass to Fields in the corner after driving into the paint
Lost control of the ball driving into the paint
Ill-advised jump pass to Fields at the rim after driving into the paint
Lost control of the ball driving into the paint
A rare misthrown alley-oop to Amar’e that he usually does very well.

And Celtics lost to Detroit a few days ago, so bad losses do happen.

Better to get it out of the way (and learn from it) now, rather than in playoffs...
