Reading the articles the past few days, he's becoming Tebow-lite for the nba. There's a similar buzz throughout the media and league, not to mention he's also thanking God in interviews. Many are afraid to anoint him as a solid nba player tho...even D'antoni said tonight "I think it's real...", lol.
The hesitation reminds me of when Ronald Murray took replaced an injured Ray Allen in Seattle and averaged almost 25 points for a while. Until he finally came back to earth, never to elevate to that status again.
We know what Jeremy Lin can do. The Knicks do, D'Antoni does, the fans do, anyone who knows basketball knows Jeremy Lin has talent. Right now he's playing hard to secure his position as a starting point guard (which he has already), so him putting up decent numbers 3 games in a row is no surprise. This kid led his high school team to his division championships, and did some amazing things when he played (and started) for the Harvard Crimson, and tore up the D-League. He's not a fluke, and history proves it. There's no denying that race played a factor in inhibiting his development in the NBA, where the only good Asian player is the fragile & nonathletic 7'7" Yao Ming.
Once Carmelo and Amare are back and the team is in full throttle, Lin won't have to play as hard as he does every night. I mean, he was playing through blood and sweat today, just like Dirk in the 2011 playoffs playing through a cold, something "super stars" like Her Highness Queen Lebrick no4thquarter James will never do. His numbers will go down because he'll not only have a single player (Tyson Chandler) to pass to (with confidence), he'll have one of the best small forwards and power forwards in the league as safety nets for when he gets boxed out. A point guard doesn't need to put up double doubles every night, hell, a point guard
shouldn't be taking so many shots.
