I don't know what part of Asia you are from but Asians I have seen age very nicely. I am 24 and have been told that I look like 17-18

My sister who is 36 and has 2 kids, has been told that she looks like in her early 20's. People I know in their 30's look in their 20's.

on the same note, my mom sometimes gets mistaken for my sister. people think she's in her late 20's early 30's, and she is nearing 50.

edit: oh yea, and i'd hit that chick in that pic...haha.

pic?

I agree. I have a friend from the Phillipines who is 32 years old and she looks very young. Her boyfriend is 20 and his friends thought she was younger than him at first.

and how many asian women have you met??

if my estimate is even close to accurate, about 2/5ths of all the worlds women are asian. of that number, how many have you actually met? would you consider that anywhere NEAR statistical signficance??

in other words STFU and stop stereotyping people.

ANd how many old Asian women do you know dip$hit? Stereotyping? It's true asswipe. Do you ever go to Asian markets with your family? Ever go to Chinatown? Ever been to China? Ever been to Hong Kong? Ever been to huge Asian reunions? Ever met an Asian girlfriend's (of a different nationality) entire side of the family? I've met more Asian people in my 21 years of life than you EVER will in your pathetic, meaningless life. Don't tell me I don't know what the hell I'm talking about.

hahahaha

way to overreact.

oh btw, i lived in Korea for 5 years from 1994 to 1999, so don't try and tell me you've seen more asians. unless you consider koreans not to be asian for some reason.

and it' ISN'T TRUE, it's an opinion. it's an opinion based on limited observation.

truth is a lot more deeper than that kid.

Oh btw, I'm korean too, my parents are both korean, my wifes parents are both korean.

i've attended Korean church all my life in the US.

so yes, i think i've seen quite a few koreans and in all likelihood more than you BUT either way, neither you nor i have seen a very large number of asian women as a percentage of the entire population of asian women.

Oh wow, you're experience with Koreans amazes me!
I'll retract the "true" part because it is an opinion, but your area of expertise lies with Koreans, mine with Chinese and Vietnamese people. But my original statement was a general, blanket statement. Generally speaking it's not a stereotype. Not aging well != turns fugly (to me) - it means showing your age.

But my original statement was a general, blanket statement. Generally speaking it's not a stereotype.

can you explain how this differs from a stereotype?

again, do you think if you had said "Black women don't age well" that it wouldn't have been viewed as a stereotype? and gotten you many hate responses?

This distinction between stereotyping and "Speaking Generally" really confuses me.

btw, when you stated it as "true" it was a stereotype, when you retracted that and said it was your opinion, it's still a stereotype but not as offensive.

Well I'd get my ass beat if I said "black women don't age well" because I'm not black. I'd have all sorts of ppl pummeling me because they'd think I called their momma ugly or they'd think I'm a racist.

What I meant with the generally speaking part is that from my observation it's true so it wouldn't be a stereotype. Obviously I could be wrong. Don't get me wrong - there are always exceptions to everything, but I have yet to meet one or yet to meet a group that defies what I have seen so far. I think it just depends on what your definition of "doesn't age well" means

Black women DON'T age well. Neither do Irish women. Italian women can go either way, depending on wheither or not they're married.

Main Entry: 2stereotype
Function: noun
Etymology: French stéréotype, from stéré- stere- + type
Date: 1817
1 : a plate cast from a printing surface
2 : something conforming to a fixed or general pattern; especially : a standardized mental picture that is held in common by members of a group and that represents an oversimplified opinion, prejudiced attitude, or uncritical judgment

See #2: In essense, whether or not an opinion is a stereotype is determined not by a single person refusing to acknowledge exceptions he has personally encountered, but rather whether or not the opinion is most likely oversimplified.
