It would actually cause an uncontrollable wobble in the planet, shifting the polar regions around, causing the polar caps to drift (and, thus, all weather and climates (deserts become lakes, lakes become deserts...etc) on the planet to change constantly), leading to eventual destruction of life on the planet since you can't possibly have the whole population be nomadic.

When I was a kid I heard that the lack of tides would cause a near instantaneous rotting at every bog, marsh, and coast due to stagnation and that we would be absolutely engulfed in flies in less than a week.
