lol yah Id like a new computer chair/desk and shelf.

where are you hoping the deals are? which stores or sites?

Last year I bought a washer and dryer at a local Home Depot. I think I did pretty good on the BF sale. The bonus was a 10% off coupon using a store credit card. But I'm open to most any store, even a local appliance store. I won't do the stand in line thing on Thursday or Friday. I won't deal with crowds. The Home Depot sale was on for a week, and that was perfect for me. I'd look for something like that. I did check out Amazon, but they didn't match the lowest price.

With furniture, I don't know the good and reputable online stores. So I guess I'd be looking at local brick and mortar stores. Besides, before buying a couch, I'd really like to try it out first for comfort and check the fabric quality. Hard to do that with a picture on the internet.

I really think I'm at a good place in terms of my hardware.

I'd like to come across some more Western Digital MyBook 4TB external drives for $98.99 again. Sub-$25 / TB is a darn fine deal, even if they are WD Green drives inside.

That said, if Seagate Archive 8 TB drives hit $199.99 or cheaper anywhere, I will go ahead and buy 24 of them and build my Ultimate Media / Backup Server that I've been tossing around in my head. At the $199.99 price point, I can build the server with 64 GB of ECC RAM, a six-core 2.4 - 2.6 GHz Xeon processor, a 40 port RocketRAID card, two SSDs in RAID-1 from the motherboard, and a 24 drive bay NORCO 4224, for around $8000. I know there's some sticker shock there, but consider having a 152 TB / 138 TiB media server. That could easily meet your storage needs for the next 10 years, I should think.

In non-tech stuff, I wouldn't mind nabbing a cheap 4K television, but Dell might already have me covered, I think they're offering a 55" LG 4K for $699, which isn't shabby at all. I'm a big fan of LG... my monitor is LG, my phone is an LG G4, my Blu-ray player is LG, my dishwasher, washer, and dryer are all LG. They make really top notch products.

I'm also hoping Famous Smoke Shop and Cigars International do some kind of Black Friday deal... I ordered a few bundles of Nicaraguan Gordo 2nds, which are just Oliva NUBs without a band, the 4" x 66 Cameroons. Would be nice to get a deal on some Oliva Serie V gordos, and maybe some high end Alec Bradleys, like Tempus / Prensado.

A 4 channel amp...for my arcade cab I'm building. I'll probably just use a car amp powered by the PSU

Haven't posted in probably 3 years, but I'm back....And on the hunt for a decent laptop. Tried to buy one off neweggs ebay store yesterday but the checkout wouldn't work... sad because it was a great deal, i5 5200u with geforce 940m for 449.99

If anyone happens to see a deal please PM me and post ITT for others.

EDIT: Oh god, my profile picture is horrible and I no longer have the rig in signature and I'm no longer in MI. So out of date, lol.

And this is the laptop I've tried to buy like 36 times now, so frustrating. Says they can't process my payment, tried 2 different cards and paypal.

I'd love a Wii U at a good price. I'm thinking even $200 is overpriced, but that's what I'm willing to pay.

I semi take back my earlier post. I've been meaning to get an (yes, my first!) HDTV for a while now but never quite got around to it (what can I say? I watch very little TV.) It almost literally just occurred to me that at this point, BF would be a good time to do that.

Don't have anything special in mind. For my purposes, I don't see any point in looking at 4Ks yet, just need something 1080p with a good picture in the 40"-43" range, preferably with 120 Hz refresh. Being less than thrilled with the idea of being "tracked" by Yet Another group of marketers, I'd even prefer a dumb one. But I don't imagine the better sets or deals will be dumb, so I've basically resigned myself to "paying for," but just not using, whatever smart functionality it comes with...

I might be looking for a new HDTV (definitely not my first, though!) and I don't care for all the smart features either. Unfortunately all the higher end sets usually have those features, as you've mentioned. I don't understand how you will be "tracked" though? If you aren't using the smart features just don't plug an ethernet cable into it or put in your WiFi credentials. If it's not on the network it can't call home!

Unless, of course, they've found a way to weasel out the HDMI port to the AVR and into the other devices on the AVR connected to the internet. Not even I'm that paranoid, though!

Worst part is they charge the "smart tv" premium for features I don't want/use.

No, I'm not that paranoid*.:hmm: That's what I meant by "not using" smart functionality - not plugging the thing into the Internet at all. (But it's not just surfing and other "Internet" activity "they" track. For whatever the reason, this never seemed to have gotten much press here in the US, but see, for example: "Researchers: All Smart TVs spy on you, Sony monitors all channel switches", on myce.com. But as you say, if it can't "call home," it can't report anything...)

* Actually, I don't consider myself at all "paranoid," just all too "aware." I don't care if law enforcement or intelligence agencies (as if the latter would have any interest in me, anyway), want to bore themselves comatose tracking my web surfing habits (unless they happen to enjoy my sparklingly witty Web-forum posts, or perhaps my taste in porn, enough to stay awake?:whiste, I just don't much like the idea of businesses compiling ever bigger "marketing profiles" of me than they already do from things like publicly-available records, loyalty cards and from my transactions with them themselves...

Worst part is they charge the "smart tv" premium for features I don't want/use.
Yep, that's the part I meant when I said I'd "resigned myself" to it. I'm certainly not willing to go with a second-best set just to avoid the mere existence of the "smart" circuitry. I just consider it to be in the same irritating category as cable TV "sports surcharges" that I have to pay, even though I wouldn't watch 'em on TV unless you put a gun to my head... And unlike the latter, at least I won't have to keep paying more for a smart TV month after month.

Yeah... the Smart TV manufacturers do a lousy job of keeping the software up to date. The apps seem to start breaking about six months after the TV isn't available anymore in retail channels. I can only imagine the number of unpatched security holes on those systems as well.

I'd rather have a "dumb" TV and add something like a Roku or Apple TV to it instead. At least those will get a few years of firmware updates.

Some 4TB Western Digital Red WD40EFRX HDDs. I haven't bought any since last Black Friday and they've barely come down in price from where they were a year ago.

I ended up ordering a Toshiba 40L310U (39.5"), one of yesterday's daily deals at Best Buy, for $200 (plus tax, but FS.) It is dumb, but it's neither "high end" nor even a recent model (in fact, I think it was recently discontinued* nor is it 120 Hz. But it was cheap for a "decent brand name," and does have at least OK reviews overall.(shrug) One "serious" review did somewhat dis its color reproduction, but frankly, I doubt that'll bother me much considering it'll be such a big overall improvement coming from my 15+ year-old, never-was-amazing 21" CRT Panasonic.eek:) As far as the refresh rate goes, it's not like I'll be using it for gaming or even watching sports. And that at that price, I won't hesitate to replace it sooner rather than later... (I paid more for the Panasonic, lo those many years ago.)

Since BB's extended holiday return period has already kicked in, I figured I really had nothing to lose. I'll just leave it in the box until BF/Cyber Monday have passed (or maybe even wait until after New Year's Day) and see if a better deal comes along before I even start unpacking and trying it out. Paypal even has a reimbursed-returns deal going on through the holiday period too, so I can ship it back for free, rather than having to schlep it to a storefront in person...

* Apparently I misread something, probably on Amazon where searches often bring up products with completely different model numbers than the one you enter. According to Toshiba's website, the 40L310U is a 2015 model.

Isn't that the TV that Best Buy will have for $149.99 in store on Black Friday?

* Edit *

I see the Black Friday deal will be the 49" 497310U rather than the 40" model.

I noticed that too, but - 40" or 49"* - there's very little chance I'll be interested in/willing to deal with the crowds working themselves into a frenzy to get at the 6-12 of 'em that they'll have in stock at any given store. (And I'm sure as hell not about to line up outside before they open!) [ETA: Other than that one set, I didn't see anything else in the HDTV thread here that really even comes close to this deal. So far, so good.] In any event, should something better come along, maybe even in early January '16, like I said, I'll just return this one... I've managed to go this long without HDTV, I can wait a couple more weeks to even unbox it.

* And while my living room is big enough that most people would consider a 40"er undersized for it, I'm not quite ready to go from 21" to 49"-50".

4gb R380, preferably XFX or Sapphire, but would snag another brand if the price is right.

I'm looking for a larger SSD - my current 230gb drive is getting cramped. What kind of deals do you think we'll see on 400gb or larger drives?
