So what is AMDs strategy?

Are they just going to keep producing chips like the Athlon until they win a big partership like Dell?

I just dont see where they are going with this.

As far as I ever knew, they've always been in financial troubles, even now.
So where are they going? Deeper into financial troubles until they go ka-put?

Or is there a longterm plan here?

Because it appears they just have short term plans that are simply awesome.. but fail to fix the root of their problem.. debt debt debt.. oh and intel.

I dont hate AMD nor do I hate Intel. I'm just curious what exactly is going on here.
I certainly dont want AMD to go under, they seem to have some great engineers.

They've also mentioned outsourcing chip manufacturing.

AMD's plan is dual core... so is Intel's. If you want to look 5 years into the future, that's not going to happen. No companies show you what they're dreaming up for 5 years down the road.

Their plans include 50x15 i.e. a vision to have 50% of the world's population with internet conectivity and computing capabilities by the year 2015. They are also targeting the burdgeoning Chinese market and have a HQ in Beijing to control their Asian Operations. I see this as their biggest positive move, they have the potential to capture a much larger share of the market there than they have anywhere else. Spansion is doing some good stuff with MirrorBit tech too.

There stronger then ever before, there getting the hands into all sorts of pies, making sure there leaving nothing untouched.

Sure, you could just go off CPU performance rather then thier business activities, in either case there doing great.

There just missing that spark, the X factor to really deal Intel a blow, and to be honest that spark that is missing is Advertising, Capacity, Big OEMs.

It's all about marketing. You need marketing to have sucess, to convice people to buy yor product, even if you don't have the best product, example:intel. But to make good marketing you need money, something than intel have more than AMD.

I agree AMD even have made a lot of good stuff and noise about their architecture seems cant get out of finacial instability.... It pays to have a lot of money... Unless their debt are out then I can thats the time they can realize their plans. But on a long term note... they can do that but not in the near future....

They only have themselves to blame. I well orchestrated ad campaign minus bribes and coercion like INtel does can be done and not cost a fortune. In stead they seem to be content sitting back and letting their cpu design of the past year go without notice and/or let Intel fly in and seel it to the mass market and take the credit for it. Most ppl still do not have a clue who AMD is. Oy yeah we do!!! BUt we make a small percentage of the market segment.
