lol... I don't think you can compare them to a band no one has heard of. Their shows are VERY popular. Why? Because they're funny! Are you a little angry because although funny and satirical, they point out the hypocrisy in government officials? If you have at least a little knowledge about politics and a sense of humor you should find them funny. Which are you missing?

none. I have both, but they just point blatantly obvious things and then say "hey look! the government is being wasteful" hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. It's a carlos mencia joke wearing a suit & tie. no different.

It's acquired humor. What's great is how different Colbert is from everyone else. He is so full of himself all the time, but he pulls it off, and with such staying power. It's still funny to watch him run across the stage taking all the applause when the guest is announced. I can't think of any other person that could pull off the format of the show. Just give the show two weeks.

I don't like it that much either. The Daily Show started to suck when Stewart took over. It just seems like they're trying too hard, especially Colbert. I almost never watch Comedy Central.

Its primarily political humor, as if Colbeert was a die hard conservative. His ability to deadpan on serious topics is amazing. His sarcasim goes over the top frequently. I can't believe why many elected representitives agree to go on his show.....but the joke's usually on them since he is so not serious. His shtick is what made him famous on the Daily Show...so he could get his own show.

Even his last name pronounciation is a joke...Col-ber (like the French) vs Col-bert

Watch the White House Press Dinner from 2006....he tore the place up and the whole room laughted with nervous laughter....
