I'm finding numbers that say their REVENUE was $1.85 billion (1.5 billion euros)

yes their revenue, I meant to say that, the profit, though is something like 3x what it was 5 years ago.

Revenue doesn't mean that the product is any good, or even that the business is healthy. However, considering the crazy markup that those jeans have it's hard to imagine how they could be losing money as long as idiots keep buying them.

So you dance like an idiot, got play from a girl that's as shallow as the public kiddy pool (and probably is as clean), and backstabbed your friend all in the course of an hour.

Wow, you are a worse person than I thought.

Look up the definition of revenue.

It's just how much money they get paid for their products. If their costs were higher than their revenue they lose money. If I buy something for $40 and sell it for $30 I have a revenue of $40 but take a $10 loss.

yeah but if you sell 2 billion dollars worth of $200-$300 jeans... they're not losing money. Cotton is the cheapest thing in the world.

we're not talking jet engines here...

Ever hear of this wonderful thing called genital herpes?

From health central:

Because we know that people with genital herpes often shed the virus even when they don?t have any disease activity, technically, they can spread the virus by allowing a non-infected partner to perform oral sex on him or her. However, that may not be the case. Although HSV1 (the virus that usually causes cold sores) can cause genital lesions if the virus take up latency there, it is almost unheard of to see HSV2 (the virus that causes genital herpes) cause cold sores! No one knows why.

If you do it right, it doesn't matter what you wear. The Sartorialist pictures many examples of this and living in NYC, I see a ton of great looking girls who can wear horrible clothes and still have men and women turn heads and talk about them afterward.

This is coming from a person who, once in a great while, splurges on articles of clothing that are even higher priced than casio's jeans. They do last long. I have a shirt made of modal that has a nice contoured fit but even after maybe a little over a year of wearing it, it's beginning to have a new look that I appreciate. Not saying that I can't buy anything cheaper and wear it well, but man I can't hold a candle to some people like my girlfriend.

No idea why I decided to reply seriously. I'll just say it's because I donated blood today.

Actually, I know a thing or two about jet engines. I work designing them, mostly in seals, bearings and oil systems. The markup on them can be pretty high, 33% or more is pretty usual.

The difference is the company making jet engines has to recoup their design costs, the jeans companies have comparatively $0 development costs.

true, an italian dress costs $2,000 dollars +. Go to any dior boutique and it will make Diesel look like walmart jeans. The sales guys all make six figure tehre.

Some of the citizen washes are more my style actually. Casio, don;t forget that different washes and styles reciprocate throguh different places at different times - so what's cool to you now could have been through here three years ago, or vise-versa.

that's absolutely not true. They buy the denim. They spend tons on labor. The jeans are hand made by skilled craftsmen, tailors and scientists (who come up with formulas for dying and distressing the jeans), designers, etc.

I just buy jeans. And wear them until they wear out. If anyone is looking closely enough at my jeans to tell the stitching isn't just so or whatever, they need to bug off.
And if anyone judges me by the price of the jeans I wear, I don't want their company anyway!
