I spent quite a bit of time at Lejune back in the day...just before I "went on vacation to Uncle Sam's Southeast Asia Vacation Wonderland. (AKA, "the land of bad things")
Went back there after I returned to the world...for a couple of months.
My son went to school at MCAS New River for about a year when he went into the Corps.
Let's see...Modesto...George Lucas grew up here, and American Graffiti is supposedly based around his life here. (although it was filmed in Petaluma)
Then, can't forget Scott Peterson...who was convicted of murdering his wife and unborn son and dumping them into SF Bay.
We often have the worst air in the nation here in the "Big Valley," as well as being the "Car Theft Capital" for many years running...
We're the home of Gallo Wines..so drink up!
and last but not least...Modesto is the home of the late Kirby Hensley and h is Universal Life Church...where anyone could become a legally ordained minister...free of charge, but "please send a donation of $25 or more".
