Just curious... is 125F cpu (84-85F sys) good for an AthlonXP 2800+ (2.08GHz)...

I'm having auto-shutdown issues during map-loading within games... so I'm wondering if it's a heat issue. I already asked in the mobo section about this specific issue... just wondering what the avg was..

anything above 70 is on the verge of deadly.

What the hell did you do to your computer to make it run that hot? Pics of inside?

BTW: Until I had the A/C on, mine XP 2000 was running at about 35 C

It's practically brand new... been 2 months. I always have a hard time throwing the HSF (clip) onto the CPU so it shifts... perhaps messing up the arctic silver... think that's it ?

EDIT>> Sorry my fault... sys: 84F (29C) cpu: 124.7F (51.5C)

Currently sitting at 49C/120F on a Mobile AthlonXP/2600+ @ 2.33GHz @ 1.63v with a SLK947U and Panaflo FBA08A12 24cfm @ 21dBA.

There's nothing wrong with 125F, although.. I may be a bit concerned if thats your idle temp.

Errr... 125F is 51C, not 85.

Full load crunching Seti WU's.

how hot is your video card getting? I know there aren't any thermal sensors, but the fan is spinning and there's no dust clogging it, is there?

Also, you may want to see if your RAM is hot to the touch. They don't do too much, but maybe adding some heat spreaders and a fan blowing on them will fix RAM over-heating. (You may want to check that your RAM isn't bad, too.)

What happens when you get the error? Sudden reboot, or blue screen?

According to Motherboard Monitor I am at 47C and that's with an OC'd Athlon XP 2500+ @ 2.08 plus the fact I have very low RPM fans for a near silent system.

As Ness said I would look toward the VC as the culprit in this case because your temps are not bad.

44 with an SP-97 and Nexus Real Silent 92mm at 12V...no sound from it other than a slight wooshing at under 1 foot. Oc'd mobile 2400+ at 11x200 with 1.65 V...could probably bring it down to 1.6.

Idles at 53C, load at 73C. This is a p4 3ghz at stock speed. I've concluded that my motherboard just makes sh!t up. After checking actual temps I find the idle temp to be 10C high, the case temp to be 10C high, and the load temp to be 15C high.

Don't P4s use a thermal diode?

If you're reading from the diode, then the temps are absolutely correct.

I wish AMD would let us read from the thermal diode. It's stupid that everybody was so alarmed at the "high" temps of the core. Of course it's going to be higher! The way we currently read temps, with the thermisistor under the CPU package, is quite simply retarded.

Nah, I'm reading from the abit EQ program. The diode is under my Zalman 7000Cu, so it'd be hard to read while the computer's running.
