So... Who went to Bonnaroo?

I had a great time at my first Bonnaroo!

I'd have to say my favorite performances were the White Stripes, Tool, and Xavier Rudd. The Flaming Lips were okay, but the lead singer was definately on something and kept talking about political stuff, which got annoying. People started to leave because of it, I think.

I also caught David Cross in the Comedy Tent. He bombed pretty badly. He started going into religious jokes and actually responded to hecklers, which is never a good idea.

I was pretty disappointed in the Decemberists. Their set sounded pretty bad for some reason. I've seen them elsewhere and they were good. Odd.

A few questions:

1. What the HELL is up with the nitrous use? People showed up with tanks as tall as a person and were charging $5 a balloon. I don't even want to know how much profit those guys made. I did see one group get busted, though. $5 to giggle like an idiot for 30 seconds and kill numerous brain cells? No thanks!

2. How did I not get sunburnt? It's truly an amazing feat.

3. Will I be allowed to sue Bonnaroo when I develop the Black Lung from the insane amount of dust I inhaled the last few days? I was picking the stuff out of my nose the entire way home. Not fun.

4. Anyone else have a new love for "chocolate"?

I've seen the flaming lips a few times (not by choice) and I don't think I could possibly hate any band more. He pulls that sht everytime. Has an hour set, talks about politics for 40 minutes, plays 4 songs. that jackass.

We haven't had any significant rainfall in middle Tennessee since April.

I am 2 counties over from Bonnaroo. The county has even asked the governer to ban fireworks this year.

i love the flaming lips, including their politics. both times ive seen them its been a great show. third time is coming next month.

meh, dont like nitrous...dont do it? theyre not hurting you by doing it.
if thats the only drug use you saw, you mustve been wearing blinders.

I bet he is still a jackass though. He thought it would be fun to set off a smoke bomb in the bathroom trashcan of the radio station I worked at in college right before my show started. Keep in mind the entire station was maybe 250 square feet, which made for a fun time trying to breathe. :disgust:

I think the OP was commenting on the fact that people were paying $5 for a very short term head rush. hell half the people that hit on the nitrous probbaly passed out and let go of the balloon holding the rest of the gas. I used to see that all the time at Grateful Dead shows.

I saw them several years ago on the Clouds Taste Metallic tour and it was easily one of the best concerts I've been to.

Saw them a few years later and didn't like it nearly as much.

There are certainly stupid ways to do nitrous, starving your brain of oxygen while sucking on a balloon is certainly one of them.

There are also very safe and fun ways to enjoy it...
