As interested as I am in the tech and potential applications, I'm not looking to decrease my focus any further or increase my distractedness. Last thing I need is to augment my reality or view the world with a HUD.

And as cool as full VR would be, I'm not interested in Oculus for myself, either. Already kicked the gaming habit. I can see the practical and fun applications for both augmented and virtual reality technologies, but personally I don't want or need either. I hope that doesn't make me a Luddite, because I still enjoy learning and keeping up with developments.

And the bluetooth headset comparison is apt. While I wouldn't care about looking like a douche talking to my glasses- okay, I'm lying, I would care about looking like a complete ass doing that.

I don't think most people need them. We look at our phone all the time to avoid awkward eye contact with strangers. Google seems to think we do that to constantly get new information.

I kind of feel bad for Google, because this project is being taken the wrong way. It's basically a fringe "let's see what we can do" project, which is what companies like Apple and Microsoft used to do before they got stuck on a tablet track. You have to think of Glass as a research project that's for sale.

$1500 is way too much, but they do look promising. I like that you can have directions always in front of you while driving instead of having put your nav device on the windshield. I would love an app that recongnizes peoples faces and reminds you of their name and their kids names. I would like if they always recorded the last minute of what I was seeing so I could record the crazy stuff that happens when I don't have my camera out, like meteors.

Rumor has it that the eventual price will be in line with unsubsidized smartphones. So still no until they show me that its a major lifestyle improvement like the ones smartphones provided. And probably no because again because I avoid first gen products.

That was my first thought too but screens in cars have been around for years now and HUD in the windshield has been for a handful too. They don't cause the amount of accidents that you'd think they would. When GPS was introduced as a separate device you put on your windshield or dash, it wasn't some huge issue either.

But anyway, I'd much rather this take the form of contact lenses. I guess I'll wait another 10 years. Not that I've ever put a contact lens in nor do I really want to.

Almost certainly, they do realize it. They got the legal department to create some fancy inserts for the package, that tells people to be responsible while using their product. They can now rake in the dough while claiming it's not their fault.
