Take it back to the carrier and get another phone or sim or whatever is needed. Put sim and SD in it right away and make sure it works. I personally wouldn't put up with anything like that for more than a day, let alone a month.

@vestibule1443: That is odd. Have you check the APN settings, to see if you have a correct one? Maybe the software updated messed/reset the APN? Your carrier should provide the settings so make sure you have the right one, and reboot the phone.

Other possibilityis that while you open/close the SIM try you damaged the contact area and the SIM card not making a proper contact. Do you remember having to force in/out the SIM try?

He said it's a known issue with Verizon and could take a month to fix.

That should be a month of seeing how the fix goes from a working phone.

I know I said I wouldn't buy the s9 but I decided to anyway, I have an s9+ incoming now. Hopefully it has much better battery life over my s7e.
Bought a spigen neo hybrid (gunmetal) to go with it.

After trying a variety of cases with the S8+ and now S9+, I've surprisingly come back to the OEM Silicon case. It feels good, gives some protection (vs. the truly slim cases) while still being quite svelte. I've never liked the armor look of many cases so it ended up being a good compromise for me.

I did not use a case for the S8 and I am determined to not use one for the S9+. A lot of grief comes from that determination, though. The S8 felt amazing in hand: it felt like a seamless, one-piece object, like a well aged pebble stone smoothed-out by a million ocean waves. It felt so good that I wanted to hold it even when I did not use the phone.(!) On the other hand the S9+ is a slippery bitch which digs in the palm with sharp, unrefined, edges. And I am constantly being reminded of its loose buttons which drives me nuts.

I might have to consider a case for the S9+, but going back to the S8 is a real option. Really the only things that hold me back are the speakers and somewhat better battery performance on the S9+.

Wow. That is some smart stuff.
I'm not sure if I detect sarcasm there or not!

Its great if you are worried about privacy though. You don't even need a Google account to install stuff from Google play. Install stuff to your "leaky" bit of phone then go into your secure bit and you can pass the app through then you can go back out and uninstall it there.

Anyone get a battery case for their S9?
I had one of those for my S7E, the problem is that wireless charging is pretty inefficient so a best case scenario is to half the capacity of the battery case as available power. The case also adds a lot of weight so you end up with a case that can potentially make your phone more prone to damage when/if you drop it.

Casewise my S9+ came with a free otterbox strada folio case which I'll probably use when I go cycling, it looks pretty sturdy. I really dislike folio cases generally though, the flappy cover is really annoying!

I have put one of those whitedome full adhesive screen protectors on (mainly because I was curious about the crazy UV light installation process) and I'm actually really impressed with it, so that might stay.

I'm waiting on a Slickwraps wrap arriving from the US.

No sarcasm intended. It seems like possibility is quite immense with Secure Folder. I myself use it to hide dating apps. That you can have 2 accounts when a lot of apps try to tie the phone with a single user comes in very handy. Things like this is why I do not think it is a good idea for OEMs to simply adopt "Stock Android." Not just for themselves but also for consumers.

I like the way that it almost gets some Darwinian competition going on within android. OEM introduces new feature, new feature competes and becomes successful, new feature is made part of Android generally.

How representative is PCMark storage test in everyday use? I've got 3464 points on the S9+. Huawei devices are at 14K+ points, and other flagship devices in that vicinity are devices from 2014~2015. (LG G3, Nexus 5X)

I doubt very representative at all. I stopped trusting benchmarks that give arbitrary numerical scores a long time ago.

For the record though mine scores 5673 on that benchmark.

Samsung Cloud has become very sophisticated overnight.
Yeah, they have been polishing that UI for awhile. I only really use it for backing up the secure folder and for settings so the free 15gb works for me as I have 100gb from Google.

Ok. The blood pressure sensor seems weirdly accurate! Mine was 124/82 on the ward BP machine and 123/79 on the phone!

I have no idea how it can work though.

That's pretty neat. I only ever get excited about such stuff in phones as long as it is (mostly) accurate.

It is pretty accurate. My BP is well over 160/110 on any given day. Just finished up the baseline and did some testing on the S9+, pretty accurate. I'm still gonna die from a stroke tho.

It would be nice if they integrate it into shealth.

The new keyboard is pretty good as well, apart from having a silly name! Samsung keyboard neural beta!
