Preordered a couple s9+'s for the wife and myself. So far the reviews are very good but I'm disappointed battery life may not be better.

I am a bit surprised sammy didn't do any promos, like gear VR (not that I need it as I have 4 dif ones already) or SD card and 360 camera. But, coming in at a much less than expected price-point is good.

I don't think that there's a great deal of difference between debrand and slickwraps for most of the skins, they both use laser cut 3M vinyl. I just like the real leather ones that slickwraps do, they age really well plus they are a bit thicker and grippier that the regular ones.

Lot more variety of slickwraps though. And I like to change it up now and then.

Love to actually change the whole phone as often as some of you, but the Note 8 is it for a while. Well... at least until the Note 9 comes along and I absolutely can't resist.

Wow how so early? I thought they're supposed to be received the following week (14-16th).

I played around with the S9s at Best Buy and I think what has been said already holds true for most people. If you already have an S8, the slightly smaller bezels + stereo speakers + camera changes probably aren't worth an upgrade unless you just like having the newest.

But for those coming from the S7 or earlier, there are definite refinements over the S8 and the employee discount/edu pricing on samsung.com + trade-in offer makes it a pretty affordable upgrade.

REALLY annoying that Verizon is once again price gouging its customers. Buying from Samsung is so much cheaper. We have a girl at our local Verizon store that we have been using for years, she takes care of us. I don't know if I can justify paying that much more this year, just to keep that up. Verizon has been really annoying lately.

Excellent. I got my S7 edge direct from Samsung last time and that turned up quickly (but it wasn't at release time). I went with Amazon this time because I wasn't sure if I'd be around for the delivery and there's an Amazon locker near me.

What version did you get? They only had the 128gb single sim on amazon, I'd have probably got the hybrid sim if they'd had one.

Colours are a bit of a disappointment so I guess that theres some more to be released later (not that I'd have bought anything but the black one I guess).

I want a galaxy s9 or s9+ but i would like it to be 300$. im on my 3rd galaxy s7 (other two work fine but are little cracked) they run about 140 for a tiny crack s7 edge or s7. i have purchased one for everyone i know. If i can find a s8+ or s9 with tiny crack for 300ish id jump strange i spend 300 on dinner sometimes, hotel rooms that are 500$ a night but buy a 1000$ phone hmmm hahaha just feel like id lose it and be sad. If the camera is amazing i will shell out up to 500 for the s9+ REeeeeeallly love having a good camera always on me.

Those alancantra (sp?) cases are hilariously over priced! They look nice if you want a smallish case though but I bet you can get a Chinese knock off for a tenth the price!

I wasnt that keen on the other colours in the shop TBH. I'm not exactly that enamoured with the gloss black either if truth be told but I'll be putting a matt skin on i anyway so I'm not that bothered.

I'm guessing that they'll release things like emerald green and stuff in a few months if you're that bothered.

I have a VZW Note 4. Gave it to the little woman a coupe of years ago but had to give her my S8+ as for some reason the Note 4 started getting real slow. Even after a factory reset it gets real slow. Don't know why. Loved that phone.

S9 64gb Midnight Black arrived Thursday.

The Main differences I've noticed compared to my S7:
The aspect ratio of the phone feels very tall and narrow, which is gonna take some getting used to.
The screen temperature is far warmer than the s7.
The wifi speeds are significantly faster
Thre intelligent scan unlock only works maybe 75% of the time (maybe wearing glasses hinders it)
The fast charge using the included charger/cable does not seem very fast, 1hr 40mins from 27% to 100%
The phone is very responsive when scrolling & switching apps.
Front facing camera is far better. The rear camera is good, but so was the S7
The fingerprint reader is way faster and acts as a power button on a successful scan

It's worth noting that the screen is set to 1080p by default and not max resolution which made the icon set I use look a little blurry. Lowering the resolution never seemed to make an appreciable difference to the battery life on the S7 and I can't imagine it will do on the S9.

Most of my media consumption happens on the phone. Movies, you-tube, reading random internet stuff, social media, all this happens on the phone 90% of the time. The only thing I do on the PC is pretty much just work and video games. So now you can see why quality speakers are extremely important.

Besides, if you gonna start saying how baffled you are by anybody that requires good speakers on a phone, then where exactly do we draw the line on this topic? We can continue by saying we are baffled by anyone that needs a good camera on a phone, or event a descent screen... Lets go back to the stone age, and say that all we need the phone for is to make calls... Nothing else.

I see what you did there, and it's ridiculous. All of those things are capable of being made excellent without needing to us a lot of space. Here's the issue: Speakers need to move air to sound good. Speakers inside a cellphone, can't. Until we come up with some kind of way of projecting sound without using magnetic coils coupled to drivers to push sound waves, cellphone speakers are, and will continue to be pure garbage.

If you're consuming media on your phone without an external speaker, or a set of wired or Bluetooth headphones, I feel sorry for your ears. I mean, if you want to continue to assault them with redacted, crackly high-pitched noise from your phone, that's on you, I'm just thankful you use headphones when you're in public.
