Easily 3 feet here on the Connecticut coast, drifts to 5' +

I can't even begin to think about digging out, there's no place to put the snow. None.

I just went out to shovel. I may have exaggerated about the 3". It was probably more like 2".

I must live in the least snowy place in all of New England except for the cape. Every storm we get 1/2 to 1/3 of what is forecasted.

Lost power for over 14 hours, just got it back an hour or two ago, and it still is flickering occasionally. Add no power to 22-24F temps and the house got cold....thank goodness for portable propane heat--kept the house above 50F overnight.

Maybe a tad over a foot so far, but it's still coming down quite heavily and the wind is still damned strong...we hit 70+mph gusts overnight here (Wellfleet, MA, 35 mi. south of Provincetown, MA---the tip of the Cape.)

And it's not the snowfall that sucks, it's the wind. Consistently 30+ mph wind right now. We've had 3 trees drop so far---thankfully none hit anything of consequence, if you don't count the roof of our Murano, which got partially caved in by a pine tree losing 8 ft of its top and hitting the truck. Damned tree top blew 10 ft. from the tree before it hit squarely on top of the truck.....dammit.

And the flooding is just getting started around here. While we're about 1/4 mile from the Atlantic as the crow flies, we're pretty safe. Hate to see what's going to happen to those along the coasts, both the Atlantic side and the bay side.

Just another reason I gotta get back down South.

alright, up with the pics those of you with power, let's go. It's pretty rare we get more than 6 inches in a single event here in central OH.

Not too much snow for our area, it was about 8-10". At least it hit the minimum of the prediction this time. I miss big snow storms though, we don't get them as often anymore here.

About 22" here. Kept power thankfully. Drifts are up to 5 or 6 feet.

Same here. Upper MA near NH border. 3-4 foot drift in front of door and garage. Nowhere for little dogs to go to bathroom. Dug out 4 feet forward for now. There's huge mounds from street plowing, where there was only bare ground yesterday. Pics coming.

Queens, New York here got about 6-8 inches I would say. Last night it didn't look like it was going to be much but this morning when I woke up to shovel the snow I was surprised by how much it came down overnight.

I'm not laughing anymore. Just went outside and it was more than I thought. Maybe 14-15 inches. And the plows piled it in my driveway up to about 4-5 feet. My little Toro snowblower took one look at it and decided discretion was the better part of valor. It couldn't make a dent in the pile so I parked it. I am first going to have to shovel off the top before I try it again.

Stopped snowing now. One inch of wet slushy snow. County still hasn't plowed.

this storm only gave us 10 inches here.

UPDATE: 3 people are dead due to the storm.

It sure looks pretty now with the sun shining and all. Bet there will be lots of kids tobogganing today.

Toronto panics easily.

Last time we panicked here in London Ontario was in 2010 when we received 1 meter of snow over a nearly 3 day period.

Toronto does get freaked out by snow, but I think it was justified this time. The plough operators really dropped the ball for this storm. I left work work at 11:45am yesterday. The main highway into Mississauga had been sort of done but none of the in town routes had been treated, including main roads. I work at 403 and QEW for reference sake. My normally 20min drive took over an hour.

The MTO had partially cleared the 401 by the time I was in but had neglected to do any of the ramps. Pretty much every single collision and stuck vehicle coming in yesterday afternoon/evening was ramp related. They only got out there around 6pm when the OPP started chirping them. By that point they were all clogged with stuck cars and trucks. Driving on the highway was fine provided you didn't intend on getting on or off it.

The other problem is the T-Dotters, in their perpetual hurry, don't slow down in bad weather. The cops say the same thing. Now that everyone has SUVs and winter tires, they're all convinced they're invincible and can still drive over the speed limit in a snow storm. My biggest pet peeve is when I see them tailgating a small car on bad roads. That's just an accident waiting to happen. They don't know the driver's level of experience, tires, or how the car reacts. If it spins out they will hit it, and they often do.

Another crop of particularly bad snow day drivers are tractor trailers. Driving too fast on tires that are practically bald. Or they try and make it up icy hills and ramps, get stuck, and cause a huge traffic jam. I'd say about half the crashes yesterday involved trucks.

I think this storm did deserve the hype it got because that hype keeps people off the roads. Could have been a lot worse had everyone tried to get in to work.

Southeastern Vermont.

All last week they were making snow right down the road from me for the famous Harris Hill Ski Jump competition. Should have waited....
