If anyone suggests ShawnCEO from Cyberwings I will digitally punch you in the face

I've had a friend of mine hosting my webpage for at least 4 years now, i paypal him $10 a month and he gives me more or less unlimited storage and bandwidth with a gentleman's agreement that my storage won't generally go over 5GB and the bandwidth won't generally go over 25GB a month.

2 times this year his reseller account has been suspended which meant I couldn't access my website or get my email. I let it slide once, but it's currently suspended and i can't get ahold of the guy. It has been a LONG time since i have researched resellers and cpanel and all that fun stuff, who has the best deal at the moment?

happy with hawk host, and downtownhost has 50% off for life right now. vivicalhosting is also run by an ATOTer

$10/mo for what you're getting sucks.

I run all of my company's websites off of HTTPme, the support is fantastic, all my issues are responded to within 15-30 minutes.

Anyways, I really enjoy using them.

Sorry to piggyback, but who offers cheap, no-frills, but reliable service? I'm putting a site together for my step brother who is a mechanic and he needs nothing special in terms of hosting, just a simple site with minimal traffic a month and minimal storage needs (HTML / Images)

took a quick look at the site; are they really offering unlimited storage and bandwidth for $9 monthly no contract? this cant be viable.

No one offers unlimited anything.

Either your server connection speed will be very slow, or If you overuse bandwidth they will find reasons to let you go.

I don't trust hosts that supposedly offer unlimited bandwidth. Not unless it's a dedicated server with a set connection speed, and usually those aren't $9 a month.

I hate HostGator. I have a rant on them on my blog, really awful place.

I switched over to Hostdime and I'm happy with them.

bestnet.net

not the cheapest, but it's hosted at the Cybercon datacenter, and they know their shit. The owner is a really smart, phD in math. They rarely have any problems and are pro's with virtualization.

HostGator is one of the largest web hosting services on the web. Their model is working.

What's their profit margin?

Anyways, they offer unlimited because most people won't use it. And those that will fill it up with 100GB of data probably don't trust a $10 a month account anyway so they go with something bigger, better, and more trustworthy.

My thinking is.. you don't see the water company or electric company offering 'unlimited' packages for a reason.

I was pretty happy with hostgator, I actually hosted a few of my "pro" sites with them. But since I've gotten out of the webmastering biznatch $14 a month is too much for personal sites. So I'm giving Stablehost.com a try.

I figure for $21 a year for 15 gig disk space and 300gig bandwidth a month if it sucks I'll just move service providers.
