What do you think it was?

Personally I don't think its Trump getting the racists out.. they were out in force against Obama.

I just think Hillary was too establishment and stealing Bernie out of his win came back to haunt her. Wrong candidate for this cycle.

Do you think Bernie would have beaten Trump? I think so.. looking at the primary.. all the blue states she lost tonight went for Bernie so it might have been resentment for her more so than love for Trump.

But as always, what do you guys think?

Absolutely. Bernie supporters got their revenge. Very few (like Emma/Jordan from The Young Turks who actually visited the Rust Belt states) were calling for Michigan let alone Wisconsin.

BTW, didn't you say you're moving to Canada if Trump wins?

No. My spouse is from South East Asia. I've lived there before for many years. If things do really become bad, I may move if they don't welcome immigrants anymore but my spouse has a green card at the moment. So I'm not very worried but I am concerned..

Misplaced anger. It's as simple as that.

Nah, I wouldn't be too worried unless you're an obamacare fan. I don't think the country is going to change that much other than SCOTUS noms. Trump's bark is a lot bigger than his bite.

Because most Americans want change. Hillary represented staying the course, and Trump represented change. This is the truest answer you're ever going to get.

To be clear, the sort of change they were looking for was a return to how minorities and such were portrayed in the 80's or before, and similarly for the boosts in white welfare during that time.

Not to mention getting involved in race relations (BLM, Trayvon, etc). It was clear he was executing the global elite's agenda to try and use race to divide the country while they fleeced us. In the end, it didn't work. I'm amazed that the people saw through obama and the bought-out media's BS and voted Trump in. Just amazing.

Not unless gutting obamacare means dismantling medicare and medicaid.

That is something I don't want.

In all fairness, underestimating and thus underutilizing the draw of white nationalism was a mistake even the gop establishment has been making for years.

I didn't think Obama could run for a third term.

I also think Hillary underestimated Millenials.

If she had given into Bernie's forgive student debt and free college ed.. it may have moved the needle but the needle seemed unmovable for her because she cheated Bernie.

She went out of her way, at every turn, to insult and alienate American voters who opposed her.

She couldn't really directly assault Sanders' Sock Juice cred (though she tried,) so she assaulted his supporters instead. "BernieBros" and what-not.

She proceeded to assault Trump supporters as "Deplorables."

You can't really wage a scorched earth campaign against the electorate itself, and hope to win, unless your 50+1 strategy works perfectly. And even then, what have you got?

And you SURE as hell can't close off your campaign with a call of "unity" after calling your opponent a literal, unhinged KKK member for the better part of a year. And blame HIM for outbursts of leftist violence. Bigotry of low expectations.

Shit backfired. Gosh, Who anticipated that?!?

Well peeps are about to get what they asked for. I'm so happy our form of government has a system of checks and balances to keep one branch from overpowering the other. My biggest concern right now lies with the appointment of Supreme Court Justices as the Republicans stalled filling the open seat and now they will push through their right leaning picks. The right is not right nor is it righteous so look out for the radical religitards to take over the court.

Most people don't think much about minority issues unless there has been a recent perceived unjustified police shooting of a minority. What they are more concerned about is the economy, jobs, wages, education, infrastructure, ethics and morality.

Yep, Bernie would have won, and Hillary stealing the nomination from him killed her.

Every study and survey on the matter put racial resentment as the priority for trump fans (even above his primary challengers), and that metric is probably the best predictor of party affiliation these days. Frankly it's hard to dispute that his movement was based around what he was saying about the muslims and mexicans or such, again in contrast to even his primary foes.

Econ usually comes second as something they claim to, but the most detailed study of trump supporters by gallop found they general have high-ish incomes averaging >70k, so that can't be it.

So by the process of elimination, it's not hard to figure what really matters. Conservatives are right in that the media and educators suppress white nationalism (arguably for good reason), but the reality remains that this election set us straight far as what motivates more americans.

Wait a second, the right wants the death penalty when the bible says thou shalt not kill but it's not convenient for them at that moment right? I believe that a person should have control over their own bodies so if a woman wants to have an abortion, which I don't agree with apart from a bona fide medial emergency, they should have the same right to choose just like an obese church goer making their 5th trip to the buffet bar does to keep themselves overweight. I don't want to pay for eithers medical expenses besides Jesus never promoted making rules over people to take their freedom of choice.

Religion has always sought power and control over people which Jesus stood in opposition to. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and no man goes unto the Father but by him. Jesus is God in the flesh not religion. Religion has been taking men's souls to hell since the beginning.

Guessed that sky-high stock prices under Obama aren't a correct representation of the economic well-being for the majority of the population.
