I have insurance from my company. doesn't affect me what-so-ever.
$150 yearly deductible

but from what I've seen, Obamacare has HIGH deductibles/co-pays alongside HIGH premiums.

wasn't it suppose to be high deductibles OR high premiums?
ie: high deducdutible plan would have low premiums

so why did it fail to live up to that hype?

To answer the OP.....the president lied. Why are there so many people willing to deny that, when it's been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. It's not about healthcare - it's about control. The program is to fuck with the lives of the many to cover the few. Most people do not want anything to do with this. The only ones supporting it are the ones who are: A) Getting a large subsidy or B) those who are getting it, or think they are getting it for free.

Oh and if you sign up and end up enrolled in medicaid, kiss your estate good bye. Government owns it. Look up estate recovery as it pertains to medicaid.

The insurance companies have almost zero bargaining power. They are taking on a whole bunch of sick/poor/old who probably can't afford the obamacare premiums nor the deductible anyway.

Less people have insurance right now than before the ACA so I'll let you give that a moment while you tabulate their super profits.

The people signing up for obamacare are the sick ones who couldn't afford insurance in the first place because of pre-existing conditions. Once their coverage starts they will flood the hospitals, and rack up huge bills. In order to re-coup these costs, insurance premiums will have to skyrocket for everyone, thus pushing more people out of insurance because they can no longer afford it. Only the sick and costly will have insurance, which they will drop once they get healthy again. This is called the insurance death-spiral and it is what Obama wants. With insurance rates so unaffordable people will beg for universal coverage.

My mother lives in Georgia and has been without insurance for the past 2 years because of cost (she is in early 60's)
She just signed up and the rates she will now pay are significantly cheaper than everything she has been looking at for the past 2 years with good coverage.

Those I know who are self employed (New York- shop owners, construction) haven't made a big deal about the exchanges either.
Exchanges are by state so if your market place sucks, maybe it has something to do with how your state government reacted to the health law vs the law itself?

I'll presume you know what a Ponzi scheme is.

The surpluses which used to be generated by social security payroll taxes were placed into a trust called, logically enough, the Social Security Trust Fund. The purpose of the Social Security Trust was to provide the means to fund retirement benefits when revenues from SS taxes were insufficient. The government gave itself loans from this trust, which are now counted as part of the government's debt - something like two Trillion dollars.

Which the government spent.

Hence my 'slush fund' comment.

Now, the issues with SS not having enough funds to sustain itself are well known. Given that, it would be kind of nice to have a couple Trill about now, no?
