Hit up Wendy's for lunch today, and I was trying to pick some healthy stuff that doesn't break the bank.

small chili
caesar side salad
small coke

Total $3.97

What do you think?

Nope

chilli - fat
caesar - fat in salad dressing (better would be a green salad)
coke - sugar (Water would be better)

how much dressing do you put on there?

a baked potato with the chili dumped on it would be better than the caesar salad with fat and salt laden dressing.

the chili doesn't have much fat in it

edit: 6 grams of fat in a 227 gram dish, 220 calories, 60 calories from fat. 2.5 grams saturated fat.

Well, it depends on what you're doing and what you define as "healthy".

Chili is a great food all around, it's loaded with protein, carbs, and good fats. The downside is it's a horrible dieting food since it is very calorie dense.

The sald is great, as long as you go light on the dressing!

Their chili is ok, 6g of fat iirc. Ceasar salad = staurated fat in cheese, dressing. Non-diet coke : empty calories.

right, except for the chili. 200 calories and 5 grams of fat is not bad for lunch.
The caeser dressing has 16 grams of fat.

Ha! That's more what I'm thinking. As far as food at Wendy's goes it's towards the better end of the scale health wise. I'll probably get the baked potato next time and try it with the chili on top. Although this chili doesn't taste all that good. Probably has some fingers ground up in it or something, lol.

Edit: Plus all I've had today was a cup of coffee. I don't eat breakfast usually.

I find it sad that most places have "healthy" options that are as bad or worse than just getting whatever you want. Get a grilled chicken anything and I bet you it has mayo or honey mustard or bacon or something on it to make it no longer good for you. It's sad really.

The chili is made with old hamburgers that are saved. The next day or so they boil all the old patties up, rinse 'em, chop 'em up and add them to the chili flavor mix and frozen veggie mix. I'd imagine that it'd be relatively low in fat but probably super high in sodium.

I think most of the fat on the salad is the dressing and the croutons it comes with. The dressing packet sais 13g of fat. Maybe I'll save the salad for dinner. The chili pretty much filled me up.
