i've tried power cramming this thread, but its 20 pages of on topic and off topic banter.
im a pc noob, and this is my second a8n. the first was doa (it wouldn't post and the northbridge's fan casing would get too hot to touch within 2-3 seconds of boot )
im always looking to solve a problem before it starts and this is no different. seeing the new proposed nvidia 7800 in all their full length glory, im wondering if there will be a passive solution at all? the way its looking, is that all chipset cooling will need to be done with the fans. if this is the case, should i just have asus send me theirs? that seems to be the best thing right now at least. im not a noise freak, but its nice knowing a passive sink is working no matter what, as opposed to dust clogged fans etc.
also, does asus's replacement fans ship with thermal adhesive/compound or do you even need it? sorry, im sure this has all been covered, but theres too much stuff in this thread that isn't even about asus's board
