SOB Service install question

been running sob as a service for a week or so now (2 clients). No issues until I saw that they were no longer in my system tray this afternoon (the two proth tests would have been complete tonight)

Cut and paste from the log file created by the service
[2008/01/07 19:38:42.484]: starting client 1
[2008/01/07 19:38:42.671]: Unable to start client, Code = 4
[2008/01/07 19:38:42.671]: starting client 2
[2008/01/07 19:38:42.859]: Unable to start client, Code = 4

any idea what the codes are???

I saw that once on mine (no icons). THe task manager said I was at 100%, so I went to the service manager and stopped the seventeen or bust service. Then re-started it and it worked OK ever since.

I have no idea why it did this

No dice

the cpu was at 0% when I noticed they weren't running when I came home from work, from looking at my stats at Sb.com, they appear to have quit sending data sometime early afternoon.

I have rebooted the machine, and also started and stopped the service, same error codes

edit: after looking at the log file from the reboot, it said Unable to start client, Code = 5, so different code coming off the reboot

it sounds like it's time to uninstall it then try again.

Stop the service (services.msc)
uninstall the service (sobsvc -u)
uninstall SB using add/remove programs
reboot
delete all associated folders

now that you're all cleaned up... try to install it again

You need to run sb250.exe and actually install SOB first. Then run it, config the client, save and exit
Then you can proceed with the Sobsvc installer part

Try any of the above advice?


For future reference, from the "ReadMeNT.txt" file in your SOB folder:
sobsvc -m
Monitors clients and restarts any that terminate for any reason

sobsvc -s
Stalled client detection and restart

I had tried the sobsvc -m, all it did was create an infinite loop of client restarts and error messages... all the same error code 4

didn't have that much more time to mess with it (my 2 year old wanted to play with daddy) so I unistalled SOB and turned my BOINC (Rosetta and Primegrid) back to accept new work.

Might mess with it this weekend
