I was just watching the Guatamala vs. USA game. Talk about wimps. The Guat runs out to nab the ball and the US guys kicks it in. In the process the two of them fall on the ground and then thier legs slide into each other, not cleats to the legs. Just kinda twisted up. Well the US guy grabs his leg and looks like he's in excruciating pain.

I have ski raced for 9 years. I have been going 65 mph on rock hard ice. I have lost my edge and done the splits at those speeds and gone tumbling and rolling with heavy hard ski boots and my skis banging me on the legs. Its about like falling off a motorcycle on a hard dirt road at those speeds. Well it hurt, but I was able to get up and walk off and ski the next day.

Soccer players are a bunch of wussies who can't take a little pain.

Not to mention the Big Soccer cartels. They get kids to play soccer, and tout it as a great sport to get kids involved. Except they don't tell you about the permanent neck and head injuries that occur when kids take headers. Adults are fine but kids are not grown fully and it causes damage. The soccer industry must be sued and forced not to market using billboards or cartoons or anything that appeals to children. This is just the same as the tabaco industry, denying it causes harm but it is know it does cause harm. Soccer is a deadly sport and should be outlawed.

I never played soccer, but I know it's a pretty decent and physically demanding game that lots of people love. I don't know what you have against soccer and why (maybe you tried playing it and failed miserably? Or you hurt yourself because you weren't physically ready to play it?). But anyway, I would hardly call soccer a sissy sport.

Probably. I've heard of oil cartels, and gas cartels, but what the hell is a soccer cartel. Is that like Adidas and other companies conspiring to raise prices of soccer equipment and push out other competition?

No I was making a reference to how rediculus the Tabacco fiasco was. The people had thier choice to smoke or not, its the smokers fault not the tabacco companies.

So since the courts ruled it was the tabacco companies fault people got hurt, then its Soccer's fault that people get hurt, not the player who took the risk knowing they could get hurt.

My only problem is that soccer players act like wimps, every time a player touches them they fall on the ground and cry. I call that sissy like behavior. Be MEN and when someone bumps you, ignore it. I have taken much worse things including hitting a wood fence at 50mph on skis and walked away. It hurt sure, but i didn't have to be carried of the hill in a stretcher like a soccer player does when someone bumps them josteling for the ball.

Soccer players are sissies.

Your post is inflamatory, unsupported by facts and illogical.

First you say soccer is for sissies. Then you say soccer is a deadly sport that should be outlawed. Make up your mind.

It's obvious soccer is a great game of skill followed by much of the world that you do not understand. Just like basketball, a soccer player will often exaggerate his injury to get a penalty on the other player. Or he may have indeed injured himself badly in a way that you cannot see.

Soccer is the sport of wimps. they are the biggest cry babies in the world. one time during summer my friend and i were watching soccer, they showed one guy jump up behind another guy to head the ball and it was from side angle, you could clearley see NO contact with the players head, only contact was knee in low back, the pansy grabbed the back of his head started rolling around crying like a little girl till the first player for a yellow card, then he got up brushed himself off and continued playing, talk about taking a dive? they should try playing a MANS SPORT. LIKE HOCKEY.

You try banging your shin into somebody else's shin while you're both trying to kick something with all your strength. Then say that doesn't hurt. Besides, you're watching on TV, you're not the one out on the field, how do you know for sure that all they did was touch their legs together?

Soccer is damn fun. I've only played it once, and I sucked but I had a lot of fun at the time. I don't have the physical endurance or strength to do it myself, or the will to get into good enough shape to even do it for fun, let alone competition of any sort, but it's the most fun sport I ever played. Hockey is more interesting to watch, and may in fact be as much or more fun to play, but hockey isn't something you can just go try out for a few hours.

Tell that to Soccerman. Soccer isn't my favorite sport, but it isn't a wimp's sport. A wimp's sport is computing, which we are all guilty of indulging in.

Warrenton,
Soccer is a sissy sports because we AMERICANs are not good at it. I think you have never played soccer before and don't know how hard and demanding it is to run and kick for 45 minutes non-stop.

Watch more football games and you'll see players writhe in agony over any injury, real or not. They're just trying to get a penalty call. It happens on every team, in every league, in every country. Until you remedy your ignorance shut up.

Soccer's a sissy sport? WTF are you talking about?? I play high school soccer, trust me, it's NOT a sport for sissies. You've obviously never played the sport above an under-8's where you aren't allowed to touch the other players at all. People in EVERY professionaly sport fiegn injury, it's just how things are. And then you go on to call it deadly....well....no one I've ever played with has gotten a 'deadly head or neck injury', and a LOT of kids play soccer whn they are little. How is a deadly sport(which it isn't) deadly(which it also isn't)? I don't get it....look at Basketball, soccer has twice the contact, yet no one calls basketball a sissy sport. I have nothing against basketball and I don't think it's a sissy sport, but come on....grow up.

Hypocrits... all those who have posted saying that soccer players are sissies have said something along the lines of "Me and my friend where Watching" or "I was watching this soccer game on tv." Soccer is not a sissy sport, the players are milking the injury to try and get calls... also, have you ever gotten in a collision leg against leg at a full sprint? (BTW I do Ski and falling on snow doesn't hurt as much as diving for a ball and landing on hard ground or colliding with another player) I'm a goalie and usually when I get hit I'm standing still, I'm not a professional soccer player either, those pros probably move close to twice as fast as a high school player does, two of those guys colliding at full speed has to hurt like all hell. Those guys go all out in there games, soccer may not be very popular here in the United States, but in 1994 after the World Cup a Colombian player was killed by an enraged fan because he scored on his own goal during the US vs. Colombia game (in which columbia lost 2-1), Soccer is taken Very seriously elsewhere around the world. If anything Soccer is a sport for men, not wussies, in a sense these guys are risking thier lives. The US didn't win the Mens world Cup, but what was their modivation to win? We aren't going to throw Riots if they lose nor throw a giant celebration if they win, it's just another day for those players. Another thing that is slightly off topic is that Soccer is constant... there are no timeouts in soccer, the only sport that requires that much indurance for that long I would say would be hockey and they have timeouts. I want to see you just run for 90 minutes.... much less kick a ball around while doing it, it's tough... kicking doesn't seem hard... but try doing it after your 90 minute run. Warrenton, when you play some competitive soccer for as long as I have then you can have some judgement in what sport is for what type of person, when you do all that stuff please let us know your insight on the sport, until then, shut up.

Also, My Skiing experiences where alpine racing (Slalom, GS, and Super G), i found it particularly boring running gates over and over again. Sure, the speed was a rush and was fun for the time that I was on the hill, but it really didn't take much endurance to go into a tuck and get a set edge around a turn...

When you are running back and forth with only little rest, you will become exhausted and when you are exhausted, the slightest bump can be big because your body is in a state of restoration.

Well, Warrenton I'd like to hear about your experiences PLAYING soccer. Because I'll tell you that playing the game is a lot different than watching it, especially on TV.

I played soccer from when I was about 6 all the way through High School and I promise you it is NOT a sissy sport. You can definately get hurt. I've broken several bones, arms, legs, shins, nose, fingers, toes, sprained stuff, etc. and I love the game.

It challenges endurance more than anything I've ever done...can you imagine running around a 120 yard field for 90 minutes?

Although I'm thoroughly impressed by how battered you've gotten skiing I don't really understand why you're comparing skiing to soccer. No one said that soccer is more dangerous or "MANLY" than skiing...

Anyone remember that movie of the soccer player getting kicked and his shin breaks in half? That was nasty....

For the ski racer...

Try modern GS in the past 3 year. The forces on the body are incredible now. We are breaking 60 in GS and 50 in SL. Shape skis have changed it entirely. SuperG is run like GS only a little wider turning, but the gates come faster. GS is almost all skill now, not strength. And try to tell me linking turns at 55 in a quasi-tuck (in and out) is not tiring.

When was the last time you raced? How often did you compete? or did you just train? What division?
