In your opinion, which do you like more? Why?

Is soccer a panzy sport? By panzy, I am saying is it something that cannot be compared to football because no one is "tackling" each other.

Agreed. But I think the watch vs play factor is totally different for soccer. I can't stand watching. I don't get what's so exciting. Football has thousands of times more excitement.

Well, soccer has thousands of times more excitement than baseball, and people watch that.

This thread is poll deficient.

American Football...

Arena Football...

World League Football

Highschool Football...

Back yard two hand touch football is better than soccer.

No. No it doesn't.

Every pitch in baseball is a potential play/home run/exciting throw... (And I think baseball is fairly mundane)

Soccer is a bunch of standing around, kicking a ball, jogging up... once in a while a guy makes contact with another guy that results in one of them being carried off the field on a stretcher... only to return two minutes later once their oscar-worthy flop secures a yellow card.

Soccer as a sport = Professional Wrestling in legitimacy..

You only enjoy that because there is three balls involved in the tackle.

Well with that description you just made it clear why you dont enjoy it... Its really not for you anyway

Soccer is all about excitement of oportunity, since the goals are so rare... You wont find a sport as stressing as a 0-0 football within 5 mins to the end... Or even worse, world cup matches that go up to penalties... You have any idea of how stressing it is? Some people cant even watch it lol and of course, its a game based on skill, not brute force

Hence "the beautiful game"

I love soccer. I'll watch football if nothing else is on.

i keep trying to watch soccer, but i just can't enjoy it.. they just score so rarely, it just gets boring watching a bunch of grown men run up and down the soccer pitch... i can appreciate the good dribbling moves and passes and what not, but it just isn't very exciting for me...

american football is just freakin awesome...

now that i think about it, i might like baseball and football better because i was raised with them... i wasn't raised with soccer or hockey, so i just don't know the sport as well... although i now try to learn them

Football players need speed, agility, and skill, and soccers players also slide tackle.

It's pretty safe to say that you're not going to do well in ANY physical sport if you don't have speed, agility, or skill.

Oh please... how many times in (American) football games do see a game won or loss on a single play? Now that's pressure.

Sure, but they just call a timeout to set the play. I'd be more inclined to watch if someone could think for themselves maybe...

Another thing I love about soccer is the atmosphere at games.

Instead of just screaming, the fans actually sing songs. You can't understand it unless you goto a major club or international game but the who stadium just swells up with emotion as the fans sing to lift up their team.

Yes, but you realize soccer is skill with the feet right? It's very difficult to master foot-eye coordination because it is just unnatural for us. To be able to run at full speed and be under complete control of the ball requires a greater amount of skill than American football.

One problem I think most people have with soccer is the diving. That irks the hell out of me too, but there is so much beautiful stuff to the game that it outweighs the diving.

I like watching football and at times it is more interesting to watch than soccer. The problem with it is the delays between plays. It makes the game take forever. The 60 minute game takes up to 3.5 hours to complete.

Hockey...now that is an exciting sport to watch. The entire game is fast paced, especially in play-off season. There is no sport that has a tougher play-off season than hockey. It's my favorite time of the year, except every four years when it is a World Cup year because that takes the cake.

Its a different skill. It doesn't make it any harder. How much hand-eye coordination is needed for a QB to deliver a football accurately to a moving target that is ten, twenty, or even thirty yards away within a five to seven second window?
