Welcome to AnandTech, where if you have a different opinion you're an elitist, moronic, insane person.

I hear you. I still have my own design portfolio site. Facebook offers little to no customization, but with facebook I'm networking with a few people. Heck, I was able to see a lot of movie screenings and planned a few get togethers because of it.

How about I just drop talking to you. You're the only one in this thread who is getting pissy.

Take a hike.

Deeko has a point. Not everybody has the time or antisocial tendencies so they can spend all their time in their room coding their own web pages. Both sites are great and serve the purpose of keeping in contact with friends you may have no contact with otherwise. I sure as shit don't want to code a page that does the same thing, and I don't even think you could in a decent time frame.

Give it up OP, myspace isn't ONLY used for it's profile purposes. It's meant to keep in contact with folks in a way a personal web page can't do.

Give up what? A personal web site? No thanks.

No one is debating that the social networking sites have built in communications features. I spend maybe 30 mins a month on my site. That's less than people spend on MySpace in a month...

I meant give up the argument. You make it sound like you resent those who use the social network sites as opposed to building their own.

This isn't an argument, it's a discussion. There is no right or wrong.

Some of you are trying to turn it into an argument though.

Well I use both terms pretty synonymously. When it turns ugly it's a 'fight'

haha you just know I'm right. I'll take it as a compliment.

And fine, maybe you aren't "elitist"....if not, then you're an idiot. If you honestly don't know why the average idiot uses Facebook instead of making their own website....you have bigger issues to deal with I think.

Thanks for the personal attack. I thought that was against the rules here. Mods?

Fixed.

From what I've seen, it happens to a lesser extent in the L&R forums, and from what I hear the P&N forums are worse.

Looks like most of the other forums are civil. I think it would be hard to get extreme elitist tendencies over which case/fan/HSF combo provides the best cooling or how badass a motherboard can get

lol now you cry to the mods. Hilarious. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt by calling you an elitist because anyone with half a brain know why a 16 year old future business major uses Facebook. It's only a personal attack if you admit to truly not understanding that....which I'd hope you can understand after several people have explained it to you.

Sugar coat it all you want. You result to calling names like a child when people don't agree with you.
