Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) conference

Hello,

Has anyone here been to a SHPE conference? I'm thinking of going for the conference since I'm a member of the chapter at my university ( friend dragged me into it ). However, I'm not hispanic so was wondering, would I benefit from going to the career fair at this conference? Are they there only to recruit hispanics or as long as I'm not caucasian, it's all fair game?

I read that.... They were talking about how the chapter/organizatoin is open to other ethnicities. My question is specifically regarding getting job opportunities through the conferences..

I had several friends who were part of this organization in college. Though all of them were Hispanic, I think it would still be a good opportunity to network and try to find a job/internship. Just think, you'll leave an impression simply by being different.

True.. just hoping that they aren't trying to fill any hispanic specific quota. While I am Indian so would be a "minority", I'm not a US citizen or permanent resident so that kinda screws things up. lol. Since I will be looking for a summer internship or fall 2010 co-op and not looking to do anything in the spring, how would I work around it? Just ask them for a card and to be in touch?
