I am currently using this cooler; http://www.webhallen.com/hardvara/94...eme_cpu_cooler

And I reach about 67C during Prime95 in place large FFT. I would like to drop that to at least maximum 60C. Any suggestions on a better cooler that will achieve this? I have been looking at the Corsair A70 as it is a cooler my brother is using. Though it was a bit of a pain to install since it is not really compatible with the socket 1155. I would like to find a cooler that 1) Achieves better cooling. 2) Does not interfere with the memory slots on the Asus P8P67 Deluxe. 3) Has a correct backplate etc for socket 1155.

I installed the CM Hyper 212+. I thought the installation was a pain. The instructions werent the best. It doesnt seem as solid sitting on the board as other HSF I have used in the past.

So did you keep it or get something different?

I'm using the Hyper 212 Plus right now. Installation was pretty easy and straightforward. The only possibly tricky part is making sure that you align the mounting bracket correctly, but once you do it's a breeze getting the 4 screws in.

My temps never hit >60C load even with my 2500K @ 4.5 GHz.

I know the Hyper 212 Plus is a popular choice, and I found it available here in sweden. However I am a bit sceptic considering it a cooler with less surface area than the one I currently use. I would like to know what kind of performance this cooler has. My ambient temperature is 27C and prime 95 load is 67C for the CPU. So if someone has the same conditions, I would like to know how well that hyper 212 plus does.

did your 16GB of corsair vengeance boot right up first time?

Hard to believe that gigantic HSF only does 67

FWIW I would use the Thermalright Venemous X, but I dont see it on the site link you gave.

I love my megahalems. Easy to install, one of the greatest coolers for cooling, and universal. (1156,1366,1155 so far)

I'm using the same exact RAM on my ASUS P8P67 since Fry's had a sale of it here in SoCal recently.

On the initial release BIOS (04xx something I believe) it only detected 8GB of ram. When I updated to the latest BIOS, it saw all 16GB.

Yes they did. I have not even had a single hiccup with these memory modules. This has been the far easiest build I have ever put together.

The Arctic Cooling Xtreme gives me 67C (Realtemp) in prime95. I might try to remove and clean it up, reapply AS5 and then reseat it. But I doubt there will be much difference. It is a heatsink that is very easy to install.

Yes, I have been looking at those. Though sadly they are getting hard to get here in sweden. And the price is insane ($150).

Cou*water*gh.

There not running as cool as the ES's showed they were.
Or my second guess, everyone who had an ES, ran them outside in the northern east coast area during a blizzard.

Hmm. That explains it. I actually had only 8GB to begin with. Updated my bios. Ordered another set the very next day. So that is probably why I did not have any problems with the 16GB ram. I just set it to X.M.P in the settings, memory to 1600. And of it went without a problem.

I have the Hyper 212 + also. It seems okay so far. The mounting was fairly easy, but the included instructions sucked. I watched the youtube video on newegg when I was trying to decide which cooler to buy. It appears to be slightly crooked on my cpu, but the temps are all within a reasonable level. I have also had good luck with the Arctic Cooling Freezer coolers, especially considering the price. The Coolermaster Hyper 212 is a tall cooler though, it hit the case fan mounted in the side of my case, so I had to mount the fan on the outside of my case.

Well, considering this should be in the Cases & Cooling forum... I'll toss in my 2 cents anyhow.

For the best air cooling solution out there as of the moment of this post, it is the noctua nh-d14

For something about as good as the noctua, but lighter, more compact, quieter, and cheaper go for the corsair H70

If you are looking for something dirt cheap right now, but good enough to get a decent overclock still on the air side then these are some suggestions. First, look in your local best buy and see if they still have any corsair A70 units still available as they are on clearance there for $25.

The Hyper 212+ is still a good bargain as well at $26.

Pretty much any of the wide array of heatpipe/direct touch heatsinks that use a 120mm fan are going to give you a decent cooling solution.

As for water... well that is a bit more of a complicated scenario for what to choose.

Well. The Hyper 212+ is available to me here. Though I dont think it will be that much better than the Arctic Cooling Freezer XTREME i use now. So that basically leaves the Corsair A70, which is also available to me here.

I have heard many horror stories online about the H70, leaks, pump failing, etc. So I am a bit cautious about getting that one.

I have two of the H50's right now with no problems so far after about a year of usage. But that is a problem with any water unit color one has to face.

Personally, I think I'm going full water with my next upgrade for the first time.

I think Mugen 2 also work fine with 1155 boards. But since it's a large cooler, you should check compatibility just to be certain. It's a great cooler BTW.

I have this on the same board as the OP. It fits but it does have the issue with the backplate and a screw on the mobo interfering (thread about it here somewhere), though it still installs perfectly fine.
It also interferes with tall ram if you want to put a fan on the ram side.
Price/performance it's probably among the best of them though.

I can vouch for the A70. Oc'd to 4301, my cores run between 25-31 at idle, 56-60 running Prime95 for an hour. For the money, I would recommend it over the Noctua coolers (that are 2x as much money for another degree or two).
