socket 423-->478 upgrade. anyone try this yet ?

Hi all,

I just read this article on THG http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20040830/index.html about this slocket thingi to upgrade a p4 socket 423 - a 478. anyone try this. the machine I'm trying to keep alive for lan gamers is a p4 1.4 does fine in SOF2 etc, but would luv to slap a 2.5 p4 in there and not have to rebuild a whole new machine.

what type of ram is in that system now if its ddr why don't you just sell the MB and CPU and go out and grab one of those cheap semperon combos from frys that go for around a 100 bucks. much better performance than you'd get with a 2.5 p4 running on an old board.
