Very interesting video, especially for what they're labeling as early progress. The level of realism this would bring to games with vehicles would be pretty amazing.

I'm still waiting for the day where I can play any driving/racing sim and feel like I actually just wrecked a real car by driving into a post

Very nice, I would totally buy a Twisted Metal or Vigilante 8-style game with vehicle physics like that. Mmmm... yeah, why not, CryEngine 3-powered car combat games... and Carmageddon 4 too. That, or just give me some multi-million dollars sports cars to wreck to smithereens and I'll be happy.

This has always been the turn off for me in any game that has driving involved.

It seems this would still have an issue with properly simulating a head on crash with a heavier/static object... ie the vehicle disintegrating like it should... the engine block bouncing down the road...
