Is there another software exactly like Windows Remote Desktop Connection?
I do not need remote access over the internet, just within my network. Preferable free.

Thanks

Not sure why you can not use windows " Remote Desktop Connection", but i tried TightVNC and i could "NEVER" get it to work as fast and look as good as windows "Remote Desktop Connection". But it does seem UltraVNC is poplar so i guess give it a try and post your feedback afterwards.

With UltraVNC, be sure to install the mirror/video hook driver (I forget the exact name). Without it, RD always seemed much faster and smoother than UltraVNC. With the driver installed, performance seems about the same for me over both LAN and Internet connections.

If performance is the same, why not just use Remote Desktop? I am just wondering?

I like Remote Desktop only because it switches the screen resolution when you log in to whatever the remote screen is, so I don't have to scroll around to navigate my remote PC.
I haven't found another remote app that does this.

The main reason is UltraVNC has a great file transfer feature that's much faster than RD's slow mapped drives. I use it in combination with Hamachi for easy VPN between my desktop and all the systems at work.

okay, this is what I am trying to do.
I have a headless Windows XP server. I want comp-a to connect to server and at the same time comp-b to connect to the server, both logged in the same profile (clone mode, both seeing the same thing). Since Remote desktop does not allow 2 simultaneous connection, I want comp-a to login and another program to login at the same time.
Will it work?

Thanks

Maybe try a combination of VNC & logmein or RDP & logmein? That might work.

How come LogMeIn is the common factor?

Thanks

He probably just likes it. That said, logmein does work quite well.

Also, I think logmein may be all you need.

From the logmein free description:
Mini Meeting: Invite a colleague or friend to your PC for an online meeting; view only or full control

Because I'm more familiar with it than VNC and it can be used completely seperate of the other programs. And the fact that it works over port 80 and will bypass the firewall, etc allows you use get to the machine with LogMeIn and do any setup for the other (RDP, etc). I haven't used VNC in a very long time so it might be able to be used instead of logmein.

I really do not like and trust how LogMeIn has all my information/profile on the site.
