I think a key point here is that the gaming/music/movie industry has decided it hardly ever wants to be innovative anymore. The majority of what they put out is recycled crap. You want me to pay $50 for another generic FPS with a crappy story? GO **** YOURSELF. You want me to pay $18 for another generic gansta rapper who only has good beats but weak rhymes and only one song that is catchy (not even good, just catchy)? GO **** YOURSELF. You want me to pay $25 for another crappy comedy/love story with an ending so terrible I have stopped watching the last ten minutes of nearly all movies? Go **** YOURSELF.
None of those ****'s are directed at anybody here, just the various industry's and their over obession with copying as opposed to innovating. You say we're stealing something, they're stealilng other people's ideas and pile driving them into the ground. Whenever something good comes out, I buy it. I just bought a bunch of CD's (Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Blackstar, Roots, Anthony Hamilton), I still buy video games (Madden 2005, Half Life 2, Burnout), I still buy movies (well, I haven't bought anything quality in a while, but I've bought some crappy stuff cause it costs the same as renting it). When the industries refocus their goals to pleasing the consumer, instead of making a quick buck, then I won't pirate stuff anymore. Until then, they can lick my ****. Sorry for the rant
