Software suggestions to record LP's on to CD's.

Looking for some software to help with recording albums on to CD's. I've seen programs that help clean up the sound in the past, but can't remember what they were. Any help appreciated.

If you have Nero, you can use the wave editor software.


You can also download the free EAC software, and that has wave editing option, filters, etc.

The best programs for doing this are Cool Edit Pro, Sound Forge (the full version, not the stripped el-cheapo version), and WaveLab. Unfortunately they cost about $300 each.

Cool Edit 2000 is a reasonably priced ($69), powerful choice. GoldWave is a less expensive ($40) but not as powerful choice. Both have shareware trial versions. The noise reduction tools in Cool Edit 2000 are a lot better than those in GoldWave.

I've recorded hundreds of LP's onto CD. Doing a good job usually takes a lot of time and fiddling with NR settings, EQ, etc., but it's worth it. Otherwise every time you listen to the CD you will be disappointed that you didn't take the time in the first place.

My favorite for that chore is CoolEdit. Next, ECDC 5 Platinum's Sound Strem does it very nicely. Nero will NOT record analog tape or LP record analog signals into digital, WAV, WMA or MP3 format.
