Software utility install problem

I have successfully swapped motherboards and am running an ASUS P5Q Pro.
My system:

Intel e6600 Core 2 Duo @2.40GHz
Noctua NH-U12P Cooler
ASUS P5Q Pro
OCZ Reaper 2X2GB DDR2 800 (PC 6400)
EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640 MB
WD 250GB GB SATA II Formatted NTSF (2 partitions:"C" and "F")
Corsair CMPSU 550W
Windows XP home

I have been trying to install the Express Gate utility that comes with the board into my "C" drive. I can only install until I get the window "Choose target volume\Target volume: I get C: (unsupported type) (146.482GB)" The next window shows: "Compressed volume not supported! Please choose another volume." I don't have a clue as to what this means.
I have not been able to Google a help on this. I feel that it may have something with my HDD being formatted NTSF. I have not been able to get a response from ASUS Online Technical Service. Any help will be appreciated.

Try turning off Drive Compression and reinstall Express Gate.
To turn it off, open up Explorer.
Right Click on C: Drive.
Choose "Properties".
Then Uncheck "Compress drive to save disk space" at the bottom.

Hi BadKarma, thank you for the timely answer. I went to the "C" Drive Properties like you suggested, however the "Compress drives to save disk space was not checked. Could I have, at some time turned it on, compressed the file and then turned it off. I am 78 years old and I find that I forget sometimes. If so, how do I un-compress it? Is there another place where this compression might be turned on? Thanks a lot.

BadKarma I hope that you are still monitoring this thread. I have gone through every file that was blue type in my "C" drive and through "Advanced Options" manually converted each of these files from compressed. However, ASUS Express Gate still regards this "C" Drive as compressed. Is there another option here? Thanks

I apologize but I have no experience with Asus Express Gate. I presume that you have tried installing it on the F: drive and that didn't work either?

Upon further reading I ran across this, "Express Gate does not support installation on HDD in AHCI or RAID mode." Have you checked your BIOS to make sure your SATA HD is not running in AHCI mode?

The only other thing I can think of is to disable XP's Compressed Drive altogether through this link. Make sure there aren't any compressed files left on your computer or else you wont be able to access them after turning off Compressed Drive. Do this as a last resort.
