Softwares\Options for securing my Internet + Block particular websites

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a software that can help me in managing my router, so that only my employees in the company can use it and no one else.

My Problem: We have a small office where i run my advertising\real estate business. Majority of the work involves communication via internet and i want to limit my connection to my workplace only.

Thing is despite setting a Wi-Fi password, it's easily shared amongst other individuals who use their smartphones to download all sorts of garbage thereby consuming all the bandwidth which slows down the actual work my employees are doing. Changing the password doesn't help since eventually it's shared anyways.

I'm looking for 3 things:
1) A software that tells me how many devices are connected. Fixed computers connected via LAN cable run without any password but wireless devices require one. So if anyone connects it, i need to know which device it is and whether i can remove him\deny him instantly.
2) A software that helps me configure the bandwidth per computer\device.
3) And finally a software that blocks stupid websites like youtube\facebook and similar junk.

I'm quite fed up with this and it's really hurting my work environment where i end up being frustrated when i can't even download a 20MB PPT presentation sent by a business contact.

My current setup is:
1) Router
2) Network Switch for connecting PC with LAN+Router's internet (ISP)

Would installing a server OS on a particular system help or are there any quick options to deal with it? Any help regarding the matter would be appreciated.

First of all hire a IT consultant for security. Security should be on top priority.

One thing you might want to suggest to a consultant is adding Open Mesh for a wireless solution. It will do all of you requirements and then some. It is cloud base configured and is easy to maintain. You can create a 2nd VLAN/SSID and put all employees phones and devices that hog the network on it. You can limit the bandwidth on that VLAN/SSID too. Device access lists ect.

You may be interested in www.opendns.com Lots of comapines use it. I use the free for personal account.

Bandwidth monitoring can be done with PRTG Network Monitor. http://www.paessler.com/prtg

Looks like you are looking for a RADIUS solution. That way, there's no singular wifi password to be shared. If someone shares their password, it can be tracked. (Two different device MACs using the same wifi password.)

First, I would set the router password to it's maximum length.

Second, I would generate a totally random password, using something like KeePass or similar to create a strong password.

Third, Have the users bring their portable device to the IT dept and let the IT paste the secure password into the unit. It will not be copyable easily since the length would make it very hard to recall. If you want, you can Encrypt the generated password for more security.

Fourth, I am sure your employees signed or consented to a Terms Of Employment and use of company equipment and services agreement. Call them all in and remind them of it and that if abuse continues, disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal may occur. That should stop this in the future.
