Sold Galaxy 7, Buyer Claims There's a Problem

Bought a new S9+, so it was time to sell the S7. Did a factory reset and sold it. Now, the buyer is telling me that he is unable to set up his Gmail account on the phone. He's saying that my old Gmail account remains on it and he is unable to set up his account. I don't understand how this is possible. Any ideas, suggestions?

Well, that explains what happened. Easy enough fix. But I'm surprised that another Galaxy S7 I sold at the same time running the same OS, didn't have this issue.
