One of THE fastest SSDs out there, almost $1 per GB. Used to be $400+

The Deluxe model is the same type of premium drive as Vertex 3 MAX IOPS edition and Patriot Wildfire which are still $380-$450 after MIRs.

Added bonuses is higher NAND durability too with the 32nm Toshiba = 10,000 rewrites vs the 5,000 or less of .25nm, etc.

And a few other 240GB for ~$1/GB that use other types of NAND

Updated topic as this seems to be the start of a trend of major price drops in 240GB SSDs all around, but the Chronos Deluxe is still the best deal being it's direct competition (MAX IOPS and Wildfire) are still $380-450 after MIR and the Chronos Deluxe is $278.99 without rebate hassles. Premium NAND at async price!

Really good price for a drive this large. Unquestionably fast, but beware the sandforce controller...read up on compatibility with the rest of your system.

Could be issues with the newer controller? The ForceGT uses the SandForce SF-2200, the Mushkin uses the slightly newer, slightly faster SF-2281 (90k IOPS vs 85k with the 2200).

That SSD is a lot slower - it's the async version, identical to this drive (which happens to include a gift card): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227727

120GB reviews speak very highly of the Mushkin drives as far as quality and reliability. The 240 GB are way lower demand, and get less reviews, so with only 14 reviews statistically you see higher complaints. I've noted this of many brands.

Hey all... Long time browser, first time poster. I wanted to join the conversation as I picked up one of these 240gb chronos deluxe on newegg prior to them going out-of-stock. Good timing I suppose as I currently have a 120gb vertex3 max iops that I happened to be searching to replace with a larger capacity. Pretty smokin' deal and I will follow up with some personal thoughts tomorrow when I receive it. As far as I can tell it's the same general drive as the V3MI, just with a different PCB layout more similar to the sister Patriot Wildfire.

BTW - I read this earlier in the thread and just wanted to clarify that the two drives use different NAND... 32nm toshiba toggle for the mushkin -vs- 25nm micron sync for the corsair.

I'm a bit concerned about the reviews... stability is pretty important for my new build, and I plan on doing the same thing I did for my current system (built in 2009), that is, use 2 drives in RAID-0 (current system has 2x60GB OCZ Agility drives), which should deliver pretty close to 1 gigabyte/sec transfer speeds AND give me ~500GB of storage.

Are there any good articles on the stability issues with this drive or the sandforce controller (2281)?
